That is not S-400. S-400 is a very large system and I don't think it can be transported by a cargo plane. At least not in one piece.
Nope, this is the S-400 and they are big but the large Antonovs can easily carry them. You need several flights to lift an entire Battery.
That is an S-300 missiles launch vehicle only which has a 8 wheels truck. S-400 uses 10 or 12 wheels trucks. Count wheels on either side of truck and you will know.
not really a game changer ATM. disregard the 400KM and 250KM missiles which isn't the system best missile for shooting down jets like the F-16 it's the 120KM missile that's the real monster
if the S-400 is based out of Al-Assad airport then it's just out of range of terrorizing the Turks who won't cross deep into Syria airspace.
best place to put the complex would be Idlib
Well game changer, absolutely. 400km missiles are meant for AWACS, transport, bombers etc but 250 km missiles can be quite be deadly for the fighters too, usually the MAWS system on F-16s can't spot missile launches at such large ranges by the time the system picks it up, might be too late. Moreover, a S-400 regiment can deploy upwards of 300+ missiles in ready mode, plenty of fire to play with. A double launch is almost a certain kill. More so, each battalion can be placed upto a 100km away from the command center. A battalion has 4 batteries and a regiment usually has 2-3 battalions. If an entire regiment is being deployed well then its pretty much a no fly zone in that area for any body. 2 battalions, one facing north, one facing with well dispersed batteries and Pantsirs covering vulnerable valleys and potential low level routes, the Russia rules the skies there.
F-16s with flights on tree top altitude can make their war deep but it depends on the skills of Turk topguns!
S-400 is for self defense and against incursions into Syria territory.
AWACS,transports, and bombers aren't it's target. unless it's full blown war.
Well good luck because as seen all S-400 batteries are protected by Pantsir usually placed in vulnerable sneak up points like valleys, hills etc. With plenty of firepower, these can fill the area with auto cannon and missile fire. Moreso, known SEAD weapons like HARM are of no use against the S-400, those missiles will be shot down. Pantsir can easily shoot down incoming glide bombs or cruise missiles. The only way one can hope to hit S-400's massive radar is LO-LO-LO launch terrain hugging maneuvering supersonic cruise missile like the Brahmos but one would have to fire a dozen to ensure 1 or 2 hit.
Well in the Syrian deployment yes, I was clarifying the missile's intended purposes.
just speculating but Russia probably sent what one battalion of S-400?? 4 TELS with 4 missiles=16 and probably reload of 16 more missiles right???
you can get passed this system even with Pantsir.
you use SEAD techniques that include MALDs,J-SOWS, and HARM
it's not liket he Russians have a crap ton of hardware in Syria relativity speaking compared to what it really could send.
