This is how diplomacy works. The ask for clarification forces Japan to make an official statement. And it gives reasonable and solid ground for China to respond in the future based on Japanes reply.

Of course it matters. The Japanese would definitely requests diplomatic clearity if Xi Jinping said China is laying out new military initiative includes nuclear weapons aiming at Japanese cities, new military ships and planes to surround and contain Japan.

And it matters now, as Japan's true intentions have been revealed (even though China probably knows it all along) , China must be proactive to blunt this Japanese aggression before it becomes negative impacts China's interests and sovereignty.

You only post pictures that are questionable. Not all soldiers of the Imperial Army were bad, many of them were actually very compassionate. Yes, there was war atrocities, no one disputes that, but many of the Japanese soldiers had compassion on Chinese people, especially the children. Not all were bad, and not all Japanese were 'evil'.
