@Nilgiri They keep on making these absurd claims about economics, and at least 10 times already I have proved to them that Bangladesh is way behind West Bengal, and Dhaka is way behind Kolkata (for example, GDP figures for Kolkata: $104 bn, Dhaka: $78 bn, Chittagong: $24 bn). But they don't learn and again come back with the same silly arguments. Besides, the figures they claim for Bangladesh is not verified by any authority and probably of 2025. I am just too tired to repeat the same argument again and again, they just don't learn. :)

Besides, it is off topic!

@Rain Man
In another thread where I have been barred from posting, you inquired about Mohajir Sangha. Susanto Shaha is the coordinator appointed by RAW for all nefarious activities against BD hatched at the Sunny Villa, Bhabanipur, Kolkata. Involving mostly Nomo Shudro / low cast refugees from BD late Chitto Sutar, one time MLA of BAL, was commissioned by RAW to establish Bongobhumi. After his death his drug addict son, Babul Sutar could not take over. Instead the head of the armed wing, Kalidas Baidyo now heads the organization. To augment them, Susanto has created another organization called Mohajir Sangha. A Muslim rickshaw puller,Raisuddin, originally from Jessore, has been appointed the President of this organization. Both are operated by RAW through Sunny Villa.

Keep on obsolete gdp figures, the fact remains:

West Bengal's per capita income is $1182.11 and Bangladesh's per capita income is $1466 :D

Leave the discussion, as I said. economy, military etc. are beyond your zone, though home economics may suit you. :D

Both figures are from 2015. It's okay, you don't have to show your economic skills to prove other things. :D

If you take GNI (gross national income) then the difference is even bigger

I don't debate with baseless figures, and with people who refuse to learn. Second, a major portion of our revenues and and other economic attributes get counted under central government figures, and not under the state, you can never get real figures on state basis. Come back if you are ready to discuss with data published by World Bank or IMF.

Sure, if you have World Bank or IMF data for West Bengal then bring them on and we will discuss with data based solely on the figures from these institutions. Even there, West Bengal will remain way behind Bangladesh.

Now put on your TV and check if you have any soap opera starting now. :D

Now recalculate with current rupee 68/dollar and you will end up with even dismal data.

Underware manufacturing doesn't fetch that kind of money, Bangladesh remains a poor country. :)

Yes underwear manufacturing doesn't fetch much money and we are not limited to that manufacturing. :)

You haven't found any suitable soap opera, did you? :D

@Rain Man you should be ashamed to compare a state in India with Bangladesh where only 10 percent of GDP comes from Industry. This is even worse than sub-saharan Africa.Industry contribute more than 30 percent in BD's gdp.I would accept if you pull out Gujarat,Maharastra, but you are insulting us with comparing BD with a third class backward state in a third class country like India.West Bengal is a state nobody notice around even your best friend Pakistanis.:P

We make software, you make underwear...that's the difference. :P

You are talking about increased consumption of a commodity which India import from overseas by spending hard earned foreign currency. How it is a positive achievement for India? Per capita personal motor vehicle is less in Bangladesh compared to India. So oil demand is also less in Bangladesh. How it is positive to buy expensive motor vehicle then spend foreign currency to drive them for a developing country? European live by a lot less personal motor vehicle than American, doer it means European life is shit compared to American?

Compare any raw item. India beats the pants off Bangladesh per capita and that plays a big role in PPP since we are talking about physical consumption of energy, land, food, clothes, transport etc.

Besides forex is mitigated by the huge refining that India does and resale of those refined products, including to Bangladesh. That's actually the main reason for India exports drop in the last year or so (lower petrol, diesel market prices).

But can Bangladesh refine even one drop of oil itself at any scale of significance? Nope. Because of its land scarcity. Therein lies the main reason the PPP multiplier is low for Bangladesh....since this affects agriculture, industry and everything else that ultimately depends on land. Or maybe you have some article or paper by a Bangladeshi economist that disputes Bangladesh PPP multiplier? Or maybe you should write one and try get published?...see if IMF and World Bank take you seriously?

If you find any country with similar population density to Bangladesh with a much higher PPP multiplier, please show me.

Till then Bangladesh will remain the worlds largest (by population) insignificant country for many more decades to come.

Food, clothing, housing, education is cheaper in BD than India. It is a common fact.Treatment benefit in govt. hospital in BD is also better than India. That's why we have better maternal and child health and overall higher longevity compared to India. These are the basic need for a human and 90 percent income in south asia is devoted for these need.So do you want to tell us that Bangladeshi live worse when they are ahead in fulfilling 90 percent of the need?

You lot are quick to grab the numbers that make Bangladesh look good (Sanitation, Life expectancy)...but as soon as something like poverty rate, literacy rate, school completion, education expectancy, investment rate, PPP multiplier....its all a big hoax and deception by the IMF and World Bank....as though they dont use the numbers that Bangladesh bureau of statistics itself collects on things like price level.

I guess the inferiority complex will remain for a very long time seeing how Bangladesh was created in 1971.

BTW, India's life expectancy is a few years lower than Bangladesh because of Sanitation (esp in BIMARU), not anything to do with govt or private hospitals.....otherwise we wouldn't have so many Bangladeshis coming to India for the simplest of treatments (theres a thread in this forum just about that).

They keep on making these absurd claims about economics, and at least 10 times already I have proved to them that Bangladesh is way behind West Bengal, and Dhaka is way behind Kolkata (for example, GDP figures for Kolkata: $104 bn, Dhaka: $78 bn, Chittagong: $24 bn). Inferiority complex mr. Rain man. Deep down they all know it....just like when they pick up any world renowned newspaper or magazine and see lots about India's economy and nothing about Bangladesh (other than when some factory collapses on some RMG sweatshoppers)....or call one of their restaurants as "Indian"....or have to reckon with removing the remote control from their ladyfolk hooked on Indian TV....and their spending binges when they go to Kolkata. They have to turn the reality around 180 degrees to have some semblance in being able to talk with straight face later on Bangladesh "defence" matters. :D

@Nilgiri you should look at the awe on their faces when they visit a modern city like Kolkata! The only city Bangladesh has, Dhaka, is the world's 2nd least liveable city...it's only a little better than a war torn Syrian city. :P
