Say Goodbye to ‘Peaceful Unification’

US wont get in, their bases are in close proximity in asia apart from danger to south korea and specially Japan, which is not ready to get into any wars.

Last lets look at the "Tactical way"...China storms into/over taiwan, russians gears up with their adventure...think what is going to be US position where else would they run can they fight on multiple fronts, would hindustan draws in and fight russians whom side would hindustan be...it is going to be pre WWIII scenario.

easy mate, where did hindustan come into the picture.

China cannot afford confrontation with US. Period.

When we will go to war with Taiwan, who is/are gonna save them?
India?
Philippines?
Vietnam?
Japan?
The US?
South Korea?

Everyone is gonna save their own skin and don't want to get involved.

That's what General MacArthur thought in the 1950 Korean War. Remember "Home by Christmas"?

Instead, Chinese intervention forced them into the longest retreat of the American armed forces, even though they had 16 of their UN allies backing them up as well.

It would be foolish for anyone to underestimate what Chinese unity means to us. Like I said, the only way to stop it would be a global nuclear war.

Anyone who wants to fight on behalf of Taiwan, you can make your stand known now by recognizing them as a country. They will love you for it, though of course that will mean instant breaking of any ties with the PRC. Who wants to go first?

It's a boring discussion actually.
1. If Taiwan votes for independency, it will become a province governed by CCP in at most a week.
2. If not, jerking arround is only harming their own interest, since more and more Taiwanese businessman are investing in mainland China.

Either way, their fate is sealed.

india is bound to participate in any global war, you are going to declare your allegiance to the greater powers whether US or russia. There are tactics; just as the two front war fear of hindustan with Pak-China such would be conflict/wars in the future, russians and Chinese are strong allies part of tactics could be if China moves for the taiwan...russians could make moves for their own interests...US would be puzzled but just like WOT US asked for allies to be with them or not hindustan as an emerging power would be asked whom side are you at you people are bound to be drawn into conflicts it is natural.

US cannot afford confrontation with China/Russia. Do you understand the biggest world trade partner of the US is China do you think they would destroy their economy in just one decision.

and we're back to square one. mainlanders will continue to claim taiwan, while taiwan will continue the status-quo.

You do realise that US has other means of fighting than just A/c Carriers. Economics is pretty nasty bullet. If China want's to jeopardize it's growth rate and earning potential, by all means shoot your self in the foot, no one is stopping you. As far as Crimea is concerned, US didn't really give a damn, but remember the tiny little speck called kuwait.

If china want to test US interests, then sure annex taiwan..

No doubt about that. We are more vulnerable to sanctions than Russia is.

Which is why 2025 will be the earliest we can make a move on Taiwan. By then, our current stage of economic development will be complete, and we will have harnessed enough of our Shale oil/gas reserves (largest on the planet) to make ourselves somewhat self-sufficient, enough to weather any sanctions like Russia is doing now.

We are not India, we will not make a Forward Policy until we are fully prepared, and we won't kill our own growth story down to 4% without gaining anything in return.

Yes we've heard that one before when the US pushed the EU for sanctions against Russia. Any news related to Russia crumbling yet?
Stick around and watch with your own eyes when China claims the island back and still can do business with plenty of countries including BRICS members just as we are now refusing to sanction Russia.

How is China going to shoot itself in the foot its has the world largest reserves 3 Trillion and growing it would take 10 billion dollars to take back taiwan maybe less. US can't play the economic sanction games it would shoot itself in the foot since US has biggest trade with China and many US companies/factories are in China and their cash as well who is going to lose naturally...US.

Really US did not give a damn about crimea hahaha mate you lost it all the US is the biggest concerned party...what about kuwait? enlighten us.

Sir,
I think you might have gotten the countries mixed up. our foreign policy is not for sale, even during Cold War we weren't on any payrolls, we did buy soviet equipment but did not receive any handouts as military aid. Even now, our relation with US, Russia and Britain are on equal footing. Russia has been a traditional Friend and thus we do favor Russia in Geo-politics, but that remotely doesn't equate to Sikh brigade fighting in Stalingrad. Indian military will come only into action to protect it's sovereignty, security, and it's interests, (Who ever the adversary may)

We had to fight very hard for our freedom, and thats the reason why our foreign policy is and will always remain India First. So we are not going to play the war-war game. China russia and US are more than welcome to do whatever they please.

Time will tell.

Chinese market is far too important for US multinationals for them to sacrifice mainland China for Taiwan.

US multinationals are the most powerful lobby in the US.

If only the world worked that way, taiwan would have been annexed a couple of years back, right? then how come it hasn't happened?
It doesn't have to do with reserves, it's is about business, US and US allied interests sustain the booming chinese economy... now why would China want to upset that.
Biggest mistake for China would be to project itself as a rival power to US... usually that doesn't ends very well.

Did Taiwan people first believed USA will come to rescue? Because now its clear they can't even rescue Ukraine who are western country or at least culturarly, genetically etc similar to west.

15 years more and Taiwan is going back to China.
