Mosamania, please do not feel frustrated at the posts in here. Those who despise your country, will keep doing so even if it's a heaven, and those who do not, will not do so even if it's a hell. But debating the case of your country can be very insightful and helpful for others.
You see, it is a power struggle in your country, just like any other country. But in all the developing or poor countries, like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan etc, it is always said that poverty and overpopulation (w.r.t. resources) are the roots of evil. But few realize that as long as religion is given the state powers, and not separated from it, the country will keep marching backwards.
Most pronounced is the case with Pakistan, which is a poor, overpopulated, and a very chaotic country, when compared to a rich, scarcely populated, and highly organized country like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
All the news, recent history, and the statements of those from KSA (like you), tell us that the King does want the change, but the brotherhood/the extremist clergy is opposing it with equal might. The king is powerful, after all he is the King of the Kingdom, but people are a bit too sensitive when it comes to religion, and it is this high degree of sensitivity that gives the so called clergies all the power that they exercise in this tussle against any reforms. In the end, it hurts none but the people themselves.
Then you see, it is exactly the same thing happening in Pakistan too. In spite of all the modern outlook and a big liberal chunk, that country has not been able to diminish the role of religion in the functioning of the state. The resulting chaos has been hurting none but the commoners. Yet a lot of those getting hurt from this chaos still argue in favor of the religion running the state, mostly holding on to some dream that life will be better when the country earns more money and gets more organized.
But they should look at KSA, and understand that the evil lies not in poverty or overpopulation or ethnic/religious diversity, rather, the evil sneaks in when they allow their emotions and their such beloved religion to become an instrument for others to attain whatever goals.
