Royal Saudi Air Force F-15s intercepted an Iranian A310 carrying aid to Yemen.

A new video, recorded with a mobile phone and released by the Iranian Press TV, shows RSAF F-15s intercepting an Iranian Mahan Air Airbus 310 on its way to deliver humanitarian aid in Yemen.

According to the Iranians, the airliner had the required diplomatic clearances to fly to Yemen via Oman’s airspace but it was intercepted and escorted by at least a couple of armed Saudi F-15s.

Photos posted by Tasnim News show that the F-15s involved in the intercept were armed with AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles (most probably four) and carried three drop tanks to extend their endurance.

Based on the reports, the RSAF F-15Cs radioed the Airbus 310 that it could not land at Sana’a International Airport and later urged the Iranian aircrew to land at another airport “belonging to Saudi Arabia.”

However the Iranian pilots ignored the warning from Saudi jets escorting the civil plane from close distance and continued to Sana’a but they were forced to turn back as the airport was hit by a Saudi air strike which made the runway unserviceable.

According to Reuters, Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, the airport was bombed after the Iranian aircraft refused to coordinate with the coalition and the pilot ignored orders to turn back.

The incident comes days after another Iranian airplane reportedly carrying aid and medicine was prevented to enter the Yemeni airspace by RSAF jets in combat air patrol.

On Mar. 25, Saudi Arabia launched the first air strike on targets located in neighbouring Yemen to counter the Houthi offensive on Aden, the provisional capital town of the internationally recognized (yet domestically contested) Yemeni government.

Saudi-led planes bomb Sanaa airport to stop Iranian plane landing
By Mohammed Ghobari and Mohammed Mukhashaf April 28, 2015 4:07 PM

  • CAIRO/ADEN (Reuters) - Jets from a Saudi-led alliance destroyed the runway of Yemen's Sanaa airport on Tuesday to prevent an Iranian plane from landing there, Saudi Arabia said, as fighting across the country killed at least 30 people.

Yemeni Vice President Khaled Bahah had called on the Houthis on Monday to heed a U.N. Security Council demand for an end to fighting, which the Red Cross says has pushed Yemen into a humanitarian catastrophe.

Houthis seized the capital Sanaa last September, demanding a more inclusive government and crackdown on graft. Talks with President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi collapsed and he fled into exile. Chaos set in as the Iran-allied Houthi forces swept southwards, fighting loyalist army units, regional tribes and al Qaeda militants.

Top world oil exporter Saudi Arabia, rattled by what it sees as expanding Iranian influence in the region, has been leading a Gulf Arab coalition in waging air strikes on Houthi targets since late March. Riyadh said the campaign moved to a new phase last week, but fighting has intensified again since Sunday.

In Sanaa, air force planes from the Saudi-led coalition bombed the runway of the country's main airport to stop an Iranian flight landing, officials from both sides said, in a move that will further complicate humanitarian efforts to fly urgently needed aid into Yemen.

Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, told Reuters that the airport was bombed after an Iranian aircraft refused to coordinate with the coalition and the pilot ignored orders to turn back.

He said the bombing of the runway made it unusable for planned aid flights. Airport officials said the strikes set a civilian aircraft operated by Yemeni Felix Airways ablaze. A cargo plane was also hit they said.

An official at the Yemeni civil aviation authority said the runway was targeted by 20 sorties that destroyed both the take-off and landing runways.

Iranian state news agency IRNA, confirming the incident, said the pilots had ignored "illegal" warnings from Saudi jets to turn back before the runway was bombed. The agency said the plane was carrying humanitarian aid to Sanaa.

The Houthis' al-Masirah television said the plane was scheduled to carry wounded victims of the Saudi-led strikes for treatment in Iran.

A civil aviation official said the airport at the Red Sea city of Hodeidah had also been bombed, but appeared to be still operational. Officials said aid flights would be diverted to Hodeidah until Sanaa airport is repaired.

    HOUTHI LEADER'S HOME BOMBED

Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi-led jets bombed a private villa that nearby residents said belonged to Abdullah Yahya Hakim, a senior Houthi official who was among a number of officials blacklisted by the U.N. Security Council in November.

Local residents also reported heavy clashes overnight in oil-producing Marib province east of Sanaa, in the city of Taiz in central Yemen, and in the southern port city of Aden.

At least 15 people were killed in the district of Sirwah and around Marib city, the sources said, as tribesmen allied with Hadi tried to stop Houthis and troops loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh from advancing on the provincial capital.

The Houthis say their advance on Marib is to flush out militants belonging to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), one of the most active branches of the Sunni Muslim militant network and an enemy of the Shi'ite Muslim Houthis.

In the southern province of al-Dhalea, local militiamen said they had killed at least 13 fighters from the Houthi group and troops loyal to Saleh in two separate ambushes. Snipers in Aden also shot and killed two civilians, residents said.

As the civil war rages on and the impoverished country sinks deeper into a humanitarian emergency, Yemenis warn that it will get ever harder to restore credible central state authority, raising the risk to nearby oil shipping lanes.

VICE PRESIDENT PLEADS FOR NEGOTIATED SOLUTION

The fighting has doubled the number of people displaced by the violence from the previous estimate of 150,000 on April 17, the U.N. humanitarian agency OCHA said on Tuesday.

Speaking in Saudi Arabia on Monday, Vice President Bahah said Yemenis should seek a negotiated way out of the crisis based on a U.N. Security Council resolution passed in April.

The Houthis have rejected the resolution, which imposes an arms embargo on them and on Saleh's supporters, and calls on them to lay down their weapons and leave Yemen's cities.

"The brothers in Ansarullah are called on to fear God ... and to stop their war on the cities," Bahah said, according to Yemeni news website www.voice-yemen.com. Ansarullah is the group's official name.

Bahah is popular among many of Yemen's feuding parties, and his appointment earlier this month created some hope that a negotiated solution could be reached.

Here is what happened, The saudis sent their planes to tell the Iranian pilot to turn around, the Iranian pilots basically told the saudis to go *fill in the blank* themselves and carried on flying into Yemen. Out of desperation, the saudis then bombed the Yemeni airport to prevent the Iranian plane from landing because they could not do anything else. Then Iranian plane turned back, the saudis told the pilot to then follow them to Riyadh and once again the Iranian pilate showed them the finger and went to Oman instead.

Iran did this to show the saudis that they cannot do jack to Iranian planes etc. If they saudis had fired even a single bullet, their entire country would be sent back to the dark ages, tbh they're already mostly there anyway. This shows you what a bunch of cowards these wahabis are. They don't dare to confront Iran directly so they bomb an airport.

It was a civilian airliner right? Had they shot it down there would be international outcry. Saudi Arabia doesn't have interest in shooting down civilian airliners. Had Iran sent military cargo planes, they would be shot down, and whatever else comes after that would be too. And Iran will not do anything about it.

Are you mentally handicapped? If Iran was supplying them weapons they would not be doing it via a military aircraft because Iran has denied they have supplied weapons to Houthis. Considering how paranoid the wahabi saudis are, they would see any plane as a military one, how difficult do you think it would be to supply houthis with Manpads with a civilian plane? The saudis do not have the balls to do anything directly towards Iran, I know it saddens you that your terrorist brethren are so incompetent, but it is the true. Bombing an airport to prevent a civilian plane from landing shows how retarded and scared $hitless they are.

Iran's purpose in sending a plane is to test no fly zone. And try drawing some sort of response. Nobody said they're trying to arm them through planes. However, if Iran has guts, instead of sending civilian airliner which they know saudi Arabia won't shoot down, send cargo plane. Therefore iran will get what you claim it wants. If it is legal Saudi Arabia will shoot it, the military doesn't fear Iran. Iran is no position to get into war with Saudi Arabia and the plane landing attempt seems to be act of desperation.

As I stated, It seems you have problems with thinking ability. Why would Iran send a military plane? So then they can go, "you see, Iran is trying to arm the Houthis!". Stop being such a simpleton. Iran already gave a message to the saudis by sending a plane into a no fly zone . Why do you think the wahabis bombed the airport? Because as far as they're concerned, Iran could also supply Houthis with small amounts of weapons or advisers via even such a civilian planes.

In your previous post you ridiculed idea of Iran arming them through civilian planes, now you're saying that is the message Iran is trying to send. I don't see what message Iran is sending. All I see is an act of desperation. Iran underestimated Saudi Arabia. It was expecting a Houthi takeover of Yemen, it even announced it would give 2 year gas supply to Yemen and help build economic infrastructure. While introducing Twelver madhab to Houthis and arming/training them over that period to make them a real threat to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia then came and destroyed that plan. And Iran went back against promise to supply gas. Now Iran has to look for other ways to get at Saudi Arabia.

Are you high? I said Iran can supply them with Mapads. Manpads are not tanks, you don't need a giant military plane to carry them.
You're trying too hard to support your terrorists brethren, al saud. I wonder why. They don't care less about Palestine or Hamas terrorists.

Anyway, Iran sends a plane into a no fly zone to give the saudis a message and they, bomb an airport to stop it landing because they could not do anything else and yet, Iran is doing something out of desperation

Nothing will happen to the Houthis The sauds are too cowardly and incompetent to go in via ground. The houthis are controlling more land now than before he air strikes. The saudis will have to sit back waiting anxiously for an inevitable retaliation by the houthis.

Who said manpads are tanks?

Is that your getaway line when you contradict yourself? Just bring up tanks?

I don't care what Saudi government thinks of Hamas. Does not concern me. I am speaking facts here though, Iran had hoped to turn Yemen into strategic arm for it. Similar to Hezbollah in Lebanon. That plan is not possible to implement until at least Saudi Arabia ends naval and air blockade. Houthi's are losing ground, albeit at slow pace. Saudi Arabia has begun training tribes to combat Houthis, it will be another month until results on ground will be soon. That doesn't bother KSA, since it has economy to sustain long periods of military intervention. Also Saudi Arabia now wants to object to US protocol and arm Syrian rebels with anti-air weapons. It is engaging with Turkey and Qatar to take this task on their own. Syrian rebels themselves, without outside help have retaken Idlib. If they get manpads it will make it easier for them to go on offensive to Hama. So by observing the situation, Saudi Arabia is outsmarting Iran and the tide is turning against Iran.

If you suggest otherwise please explain why.

Beware irani pro accentric, single bullet to saudia will demolish whole iran, which is well known.
You, iran are speaking of usa support +israel.....no problem. ...common wus . wanna test

.
Huh...since when does Iran consider Hamas as terrorists??:woot: I thought your regime saw them(and have been their main backer arming/supporting them) as 'holy/oppressed' muslim fighters fighting against the 'evil' zionist regime??
Or is it becaue Hams has finally showed Iran its true colour by first supporting the rebels in Syria and now those in Yemen against the Houthis?
By the way if Hamas is a terrorist organization(which i believe they are), hmmmmmm..... then that also makes Iran the GOD father of terrorism since Iran has been(and maybe is still) its main military backer.:cheesy:

Geo politics is indeed a dirty but intersting game i must say. :big_boss::D:P
