I hope this to be true. There are multiple benefits to be had;

1. If a huge invesment occured and was properly utilised, it could help smash poverty in our country.

2. It would also put money back into Saudi pockets. Investment afterall is for profit.

3. It would signal a change in attitude in Saudi. It is an incredibly wealthy country and it can build more ties through trade and commerce than it ever can through "leader to leader" relations, or through missionary work. This could be a model used in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Somalia - countries in it's neighbourhood where Saudi could improve the countries, build long term allies and make a profit; all at the same time.

Hopefully the next big step they can take is to try and form some sort of peace with Iran. All peace deals start in the heat of conflict. Both sides should realise their conflict is causing much more harm than it is benefit.

You think 2 billion is a small amount!? it's 2000 million dollars.
Can you imagine, how many jobs it can create?
I bet Saudia can earn more, if they invest 2 billion in mineral development within Sauid Arabia.
Whereas, Pakistan is totally unsuitable for industry, due to high taxes, high utility costs, poor living conditions, unhygienic food, fake medicen industry etc. etc.
In given circumstances not even PM of Pakistan would be willing to invest in Pakistan.
Pakistan is lucky to have such generous friends.

CPEC investment is not comparable, if you know China investment model.
They invest only on roads and routes, to ensure it's exports would reach every corner of world.
In the end, they own all of infrastructure of a country, do you see the difference.
China model is more like Malik Riaz type but on gigantic scale.
