Saudi Government permits import of Pakistan’s poultry products

RAWALPINDI- Saudi Government has granted permission for import of Pakistani Poultry Products which would enable country’s poultry sector to get maximum export orders and economic benefits.


This was disclosed by Dr. Muhammad Aslam Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association while talking to journalists here today.


He termed this announcement remarkable for economic development and said that the decision was made after the visit of Saudi delegation to Pakistan comprising high officials and experts. Dr. Muhammad Aslam informed that the Saudi delegation visited poultry farms, hatcheries and feed mills located in different locations of Pakistan and after successful meetings with the representatives of Pakistan Poultry Association and government officials, the technical experts of Saudi delegation declared poultry products of Pakistan according to the international standard.


The chairman PPA said that on the recommendations of Saudi Delegation, Saudi Government has permitted for export of chicken, hatching eggs and day old chicks from Pakistan to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


Dr. Muhammad Aslam expressed his gratitude to Saudi Government, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Food Security and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan for their active support and cooperation for export of poultry products to Saudia.


He asked poultry farmers to get benefit of this opportunity and keep the quality of their poultry products according to the international standards. Dr. Muhammad Aslam said that the decision of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for export of poultry products of Pakistan would help in promotion of economic activities as well as investment in this sector

Statisticals of Pakistan Poultry Industry 2012-13
• Presently turnover of Pakistan Poultry Industry is about 564 billions rupees.
• There are about 25000 Poultry Farms in the country.
• Poultry Industry is one of the most organized branches of the agro based sector of Pakistan. Its growth rate is 10-12% annually.
• At present over 40% of agriculture produce and by-products of Agriculture are being used in poultry feed.
• 40% of the total meat consumption is being procured from poultry products.
• We are producing 9410 million table eggs and 953.600 metric tons chicken meat annually.
• In Pakistan per capita consumption of meat is only 5.5 KG and 55 eggs annually, Whereas developed world is consuming 25-28 KG meat and over 250 eggs per capita per year.
• As per standard of World Health Organization, daily requirement of animal protein for a person is 27 grams whereas our public is consuming 17 grams only. Therefore we are already consuming less animal protein as per required standards.
