They have no submarines and no real capabilities to deal with them, but this deal will change the previous view and will enhance Saudi Arabia's capabilities. It includes 19 helicopters UH-70B and Unknown number of P8 Poseidon Navy patrol aircraft and anti-submarine as well as frigates of advanced LCS type.

Are there plans for Saudiya to include submarines in its Navy, SC? It's moving in the right direction with respect to anti-submarine warfare caps (and that is some nice stuff for sure), but how about the thought of actually deploying a submarine fleet? Is there any mention of that?

There are rumours that the $110 billion deal includes 4 Type 218 design based submarines, to be made and equipped in the US.. but just rumours up till now, the same goes for the up to 200 F-35s.. the only credibility comes from the known delivery dates for other Systems, like THAAD for example 2023 to 2028.. That is a long time.. so the rumours might become realities considering the time frame..

Rumours are about subs from the US.. there are also rumours about subs from China.. KSA will go for more ships too, probably 6 corvettes from Spain..there were also talks with the French.. So 8 to 12 subs might be the objective.. for ships it might get quite big since they are building the biggest shipyard in the middle east with a vision of building civilian as well as military ships..
