The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that Turkey will be the first guest of honor at the Armed Forces Fair to Support Local Manufacturing "AFED 2018" in its fourth session, scheduled to be held from 25 February to 3 March 2018.
This came in the words of Major General Engineer Attia Al-Maliki, Director of the General Directorate to support the local manufacturing of the Saudi Armed Forces, which plans to launch the exhibition under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
The official SPA news agency quoted al-Maliki as saying that the "AFED 2018" in its fourth session is hosting for the first time a guest of honor represented by the Republic of Turkey. "
He pointed out that the aim is to "provide the opportunity for the Turkish industrial companies to present their products and requirements and to partner with their counterparts from the Saudi side to contribute to the transfer and localization of technology and benefit from manufacturing opportunities to meet the need of raw materials and spare parts manufactured locally to achieve economic return of both sides."
He explained that the aim of hosting Turkey is also "to exchange research experiences between the scientific centers of the two countries to support and develop the outputs of local manufacturing to achieve self-sufficiency.
According to the Saudi official, there will be participation by high-level speakers from the Turkish side in the lectures and workshops associated with the exhibition "AFED" to showcase the Turkish experience and expertise in the field of manufacturing, transfer and localization of technology.
For his part, the Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Eng. Ahmed Al Rajhi, said that the exhibition aims to localize and support local manufacturing and develop the contribution of local companies in the industry to raise the level of local industry in the national economy to achieve the vision of the Kingdom (2030).
Al Rajhi explained that the exhibition "carries many investment opportunities for the private sector and before that is an important tributary to serve our armed sectors, which we are proud of, and that the private sector is keen to contribute to the promotion of products and manufacturing needs of the military sectors where the number of items required to manufacture at this exhibition represent 100000 opportunities."
The Armed Forces Exhibition to Support Local Manufacturing (AFED 2018) is scheduled to be held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, under the theme "Our Industry, Our Strength".
