It is not inaccurate to say the Saudi people are, on the whole, a self-entitled and pampered lot. They are born into a nation where they are not expected to work, they are provided free healthcare and free education (even higher education-university) and they pay no tax- the very idea of taxation is alien to them. The majority of the work and industery in their nation is handled by expats/immiragrents from, mostly, S.Asia and, more often than not, these hardworking foreigners are treated like $h!t by the local who see themselves above these workers.
When the oil runs out the Saudis are in for a BIIIIGG shock, their society is already one of the most unproductive on the planet, their population is almost adverse to any form of work and their youth unemployment is one of the highest on earth. The Saudis have been sheltered for a long time by their Royal Family who has used its wealth to suppress any notion of revolution or regime change. Globally the Saudis cannot compete when the oil is gone and the changes they need to make to their soceity would take generations and decades- time that they just don't have.
