WASHINGTON, October 20, 2010 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress today of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Saudi Arabia of:

462 AN/AVS-9 Night Vision Goggles (NVGS)

Also included are the upgrade of the existing Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) fleet of seventy (70) F-15S multi-role fighters to the F-15SA configuration, the provision for CONUS-based fighter training operations for a twelve (12) F-15SA contingent, construction, refurbishments, and infrastructure improvements of several support facilities for the F-15SA in-Kingdom and/or CONUS operations, RR-188 Chaff, MJU-7/10 Flares, training munitions, Cartridge Actuated Devices/Propellant Actuated Devices, communication security, site surveys, trainers, simulators, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistical support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support.
The estimated cost is $29.432 billion.

A big plus point for RSAF. All F-15SA AESA equipped in the future.
No they are not useless again 20+55 F-35s.

With in total 308 (57+25+72+71+84) F-15SAs AESA equipped in future is a serious firepower in the whole ME region.
ps. Saudis are interested in those 84 F-15SE Silent Eagle. Now it would be interested if Saudis get SE while israelis get F-35s.

Don't forget 72 EF-2000 all will be AESA equipped. Plus an option of 72 more or could be cancelled if US go ahead with Silent Eagle sales to RSAF.

I think your numbers are wrong.
It is 84 F-15SA+ another 70 F-15's upgraded to SA standards.That makes it 154 F-15SA's. They also have 3 decades old 70 F015 C/D's which will be retired before all the new F-15SA's come online.

They wont pick them up at all atleast if the F-35 performs as expected.

Depends on just how stealthy export versions of the F-35 is. The Radar will eventually pick it up. Just depends on if it can before the F-35 gets in range to fire off a AIM-120.

Not exactly..the F35 will have the superior APG-81 AESA radar...they will always see first and shoot first.

That would certainly play a role too. Stealth+Advanced Avionics generally would negate all else.

The Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) upgrades include components to extend the life of the fighter bombers and highly-accurate target acquisition pods.
The Goodrich Corporation announced it had been selected to upgrade Saudi Arabia’s fleet of 150 F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft with Grid-Lock flight controls. The retrofit of the aircraft ailerons, flaps, rudders and wing tips will bring them up to par with US Air Force F-15s, the company said.

“The RSAF recognized the improved lifecycle costs that the USAF is realizing on its flight control surfaces as a result of this innovative technology,” Marc Duvall, president of Goodrich Aerostructures, said in a statement.
The London-based Jane’s Defence Weekly reported.
That a July 2010 news now best part is new information has surfaced about upgrades with AESA and other systems as of Sep/Oct 2010.

So 72 F-15s are already SA standards.
Another 150(+3) goes through upgrades with SA standards.
Another 84 on order (SA/SE could be any of these two)

Look ras if you have some personal problem with Saudis say it don't try to make fool out of yourself you are not in us administration what you see is what you get and that is what it is, if you feel bad about such good deal write to us department of defense and protest.
