Saudi Arabia asks NAM states to recognize Palestine

^^^ You don't seem to have enough info. I don't want to go into the details but suffice to say both sides were responsible.

Keep in mind that the Palestinians also endorse the Arab Peace initiative. IF what you said was true, the Israelis would be jumping up and down in joy because the peace plan is exactly the same thing that was being offered by Olmert, or in 2000.
The reality is that it was not.

Here is former PM Olmert on WHO was responsible of clinching the Palestine peace deal

After Camp David, Israel was supposed to withdraw selectively, that never happened and after Rabin's assasination that was put into cold storage. At the same time, new settlements are being created in West Bank. These are the single biggest reason why the peace talks don't happen.

The creation of settlments while negotiations are going on is like one side eating the pizza while discussing with the other person on how to divide it among themselves.

Check out the most recent discussions that have been leaked under the Palestine Papers to see how much Palestinians had conceded including things like symbolic return of refugees, symbolic control of East Jerusalem, demilitarised Palestine state and 90% of the settlements in the West Bank to be incorporated into Israel and even that was rejected

All said and done, it is in Israel's interest to withdraw from the Palestinian majority areas. As long as the military rule over West Bank and Gaza continues and they are denied political rights, Israel will always have tensions with the locals. And if it does become truly democratic and gives the Palestinians the right to vote, it will loose its Jewish majority.

So its in Israel's best interest to resolve this issue and establish itself with the Arab League based on the 2002 initiative.

You seem to be under the delusion that if we withdrew from the West Bank, that PA would not be overrun by HAMAS and the war would just restart. Are you naive or just uninformed about the mistakes of past, regarding Land for Peace bullsh!t?
And Yes, Ehud Barak also offered East Jerusalem. And Gaza is ruled by HAMAS, we withfrew a long time ago, guess what gratitude we received.

The palestine problem is nothing new. It dates back to hundred year ago. And to find the party who is at fault, we must analyze the whole history. And by doing so: I find that Israel has been too generous. It is the palestinians who are at fault.

At camp david, Israel offered the Gaza Strip, a large part of the West Bank, plus extra land from the Negev desert, while keeping major settlement blocks and most of East Jerusalem. It proposed Islamic guardianship of key sites in the Old City of Jerusalem and contributions to a fund for Palestinian refugees. Result? Rejected!

It is always the palestinian terrorists who thwart the peace initiative. They were responsible for the failure of the Arab peace initiative and all others. Do you expect peace when suicide bombers and rockets are blowing up israeli civilians from gaza and other areas?

What a shame we recognize them for the sake of political appeasement.

Don't see what benefit we got despite 40 years of supporting those endless-wells (nothing ever returns from there for your good).

Personally, I stand by Israel through and through in this matter.

Are you sure about that? US aid is no more than 3-4% of Israel's budget. Yes, US aid was decisive in the 70s, especially in the 73' war. But Israel is pretty independent now and can go on with only minor inconvenience if US aid stops.

The only vulnerability is Israel's energy dependency. At present it depends on Russia/Caucasus for its energy needs.

Yes mate I am sure. I know you to be very capable at research. Please do some on this. Even on PDF I have put threads up in the past regarding this matter. there is no doubt whatsoever.

I'm going to remember this analogy. You've hit the nail on the head. I don't see Israel making a good faith effort to negotiate for peace. Instead, I see it stalling for time through open-ended peace talks while continuing to build settlements.

Most of these NAM states have very good relations with Israel...tell me why would they risk their relations with one of the highest scientific and technology producer of the world for some rag tag Arabs who keep fighting among themselves? Not trying to be a bigot but just logical reasoning.
