Saudi Arabia: 50,000 Indians deported during amnesty

You got a study report ?

"Crime in Saudi Arabia is relatively low when compared to some developed nations, but may be increasing due to higher levels of foreign workers and higher levels of unemployment among Saudi residents."
— John Wilson, on the crime situation in Saudi Arabia, in the book International Security and the United States: An Encyclopedia

.
We face this problem of illegal workers who some of them resort to crime that it became epidemic sort to speak.

People wonder why a large number of South Asians are in jail and think it is part of Gulf cruelty when in fact most crimes are committed by them. Most Drug trafficking Alcohol trafficking prostitution etc. are opened and run by Indians and Bangladeshis.

That is how we explain socioeconomic situation of blacks in US!

That's a nice tidbit.

if deported 50,000 how many more illegal there in SA

. .
There were 1.5 million (not 2.5 million) Indian expats in Saudi Arabia in 2009, & 1.2 million Pakistani expats. Let's see if the Saudis extend any more of their amnesty to Indian expats by deporting another 50,000 of them anytime soon.

These are old figures. As per 2011 and according to the Saudi Ambassador to India, there are 2.5 million Indians working in KSA.

Saudi to issue multiple visas to Indian businessmen - The Times of India
HYDERABAD: In a major boost to Saudi Arabia's business relations with India the oil rich kingdom's acting ambassador Saghr Sulaiman H Qureshi said on Saturday that his country's embassy will be issuing multiple entry-exit visas to businessmen within a day to promote two-way trade.

Qureshi who is visiting Hyderabad as part of his south-India tour to study the problems faced by private Haj operators also said that the visa will be valid for one complete year.

He said that Indian industrialists have invested millions in IT, food, construction and other sectors. "Saudi government is providing all facilities to Indian businessmen. This is our new initiative," said Qureshi. He also announced that Saudi Arabia will be opening consulates in AP and Kerala shortly. A large number of people, including businessmen and investors, visit Saudi Arabia from these two south Indian states, he added.

Allaying apprehensions that the new labour laws introduced by the Saudi government giving preference to its nationals in jobs, he said there is no danger to the employment of expatriates if they have the right category of visa and right companies to work with. He also said that currently 2.5 million Indians are working in Saudi Arabia and they play an important role in the development of the country. "There would be no impact on the Indian workforce. In fact there is a huge demand for professionals from India in all fields," he said.

Praising the hospitality and city's culture he said that this year Saudi Arabia accepted India's plea to increase the quota of Haj pilgrims by 10,000. He visited the Haj House before leaving the city later in the day.

Is the animation hero basically from Bangladesh?

The country was not mentioned but basically yes Bangladeshis are now associated with crime here. Many in Saudi Arabia calls to stop the influx of Bangladeshi workers once and for all.

That's a nice tidbit.

Yes it is true I never claimed that Saudis are angels themselves. The Unemployed do their share of crimes but it is dwarfed by the number of crimes committed by Indians and Bangladeshis. To make it clear I am not generalizing and saying all Indians and Bangladeshis are bad not at all. I am friends with a lot of them and the majority are good people but the fact I said earlier remains.

Well many leave their original companies because of the low salary or working conditions and instead of resigning (which could cause their automatic deportation to their homeland) they chose to run away and work as 'Khalivallis' or illegals. This is mainly done so as to recover the money spent on their visa and earn enough so that they can return home to a relatively comfortable life. As their passport is still with the original employer these illegal workers prefer to wait it out until this type of amnesty schemes are announced so that they may return home through proper channel.

1. Paying for visa is illegal, they should not pay the agents. It is the Indians who have introduced mass scale visa system corruption not only in Saudia but also in USA, H1-B scam is all over the media..

2. They should not have agreed to low wages, but offcourse Indian love to destroy labour market with 1/3rd wages.

3. India stop exporting poverty!

It is a shame that India was the only major country with this restriction to begin with along with few other low profile countries.. Citizens of all other countries. even Egypt are able to get Multiple visas without a problem. Speaks volumes about the absconding and visa fraud ratio of Indians..Indian businessmen are widely associated with visa fraud and nepostism be is USA, KSA or Europe

I have personally seen many Indians who exploited the foreign investment facility to open paper companies under SAGIA, get 500-600 visas to sell in black market and then run away. Who ever bought visas for them would be left high and dry as an "illegal" over stayer once the business entity became invalidated.

Mosamania,

Afaik, Indians are the least likely to be involved in criminal activities. Even today, if a plane is coming from Pakistan, the passengers will get thoroughly checked for any contraband and drugs particularly those of Pashtun origins, while Indian passengers are sent through customs with only cursory checks.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia work to curb drug trafficking
.
The Saudi Narcotics Police arrested 195 Pakistanis on charges of smuggling drugs last year. They were later indicted for the offence. Around 20 Pakistanis arrested with drugs in their possession were beheaded. Pakistan did not approach the Saudi Government for contesting its citizens’ cases, nor did it arrange for legal assistance. Saudi authorities proceeded with their trial in compliance with local laws which give death sentences to persons convicted for drug trafficking.

Malik expressed his concern on the arrest of a record number of Pakistanis on charges of smuggling narcotics who went to Saudi Arabia during Hajj in the last two years. Various gangs active in smuggling to the Gulf and Saudi Arabia use pilgrims in their operations.

Here is a report from the State dept.s on sexual trafficking in the KSA
Country Narratives -- Countries Q through Z
Women from Yemen, Morocco, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Tajikistan were also trafficked into Saudi Arabia for commercial sexual exploitation; others were reportedly kidnapped and forced into prostitution after running away from abusive employers. In addition, Saudi Arabia is a destination country for Nigerian, Yemeni, Pakistani, Afghan, Chadian, and Sudanese children trafficked for involuntary servitude as forced beggars and as street vendors.

When you go abroad and look at those jobless Indians, you see most of them peddling fake watches/CD's or some stuff like that. Then you see these Pakistani/Bangladeshi goons peddling drugs, women etc. As for Saudi, i know for a fact that Pakistanis are the most thoroughly inspected in any given airport.

Actually Pakistanis are not associated with crime at all in here. The general saying is "How long are we going to keep getting workers from India and Bangladesh?? And why is our government not doing anything to counter this??"

Thank you Ejaz, facts are always more useful than opinions. But only for the unbiased.

I've had access to credit data in the UAE past 4 years for their largest banks, and I can tell you Indians are least likely to commit financial crimes but one of our neighbor is 5 times more likely to.

I think people don't understand the meaning of the word amnesty.

If you overstay illegally, you can be fined and imprisoned as well. Instead the Saudi govt. gave a general amnesty to those Indians who were ILLEGALLY staying here. This is a positive thing because they didn't have to pay any fines, nor spend any jail time in accordance with Saudi laws for illegal overstayers.

Or maybe the Saudis just didn't want to carry the burden of 50,000 more indians, might as well send them back to where they came from instead of keeping them in jail and feeding them at the same time.

50,000 less indians means 50,000 less mouths to feed.

You mean Afghanis using illegally acquired Pakistani passports?? Well Afghanis are so restricted here many of them are not even issued Hajj or Umrah visas however they are good at exploiting their connections with Pakistan.
