Goodrich Corporation has received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide its advanced DB-110 airborne reconnaissance system for the Royal Saudi Air Force F-15S Modernization Program. The Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contract calls for Goodrich to provide 10 dual-band reconnaissance pods from its Westford, Mass. facility and five fixed, transportable and mobile ground exploitation stations from its Malvern, UK facility. The program also includes extensive training and logistics support.
Saudi Arabia is the 10th country to select Goodrich's DB-110 system.
Andrew Chrostowski, vice president of Goodrich's ISR Systems business said, "This is an important selection by the Royal Saudi Air Force for our DB-110 reconnaissance system for their F-15 aircraft. It is the first F-15 program for the DB-110 and will certify our system for operation on that platform."
Goodrich's DB-110 digital, real-time, tactical reconnaissance system captures images day and night using electro-optical/infrared sensor technology. Images can then be transmitted in real-time to analysts on the ground as well as viewed on the cockpit video display, enabling the pilot to verify targets and re-task based on opportunities revealed during the mission.

Royal Saudi Air Force Selects Goodrich DB-110 Airborne Reconnaissance Systems - Avionics Intelligence

The DB-110 (dual-band 110-inch focal length) is the most advanced electro-optical infrared (EO/IR) reconnaissance pod available for tactical manned fighter aircraft, providing a long-range, high-resolution, stand-off imaging capability to support tactical operations. On the F-16, the system can be operated autonomously, with the DB-110 being controlled by the pod's reconnaissance management system. Imagery is viewed on the F-16’s cockpit video display, enabling the pilot to verify targets and conduct tasks such as battle damage assessment. The real-time display also gives the pilot or aircrew the ability to seek out targets of opportunity or select a different route to a selected target.
Goodrich’s tactical reconnaissance system has been selected by six NATO and major non-NATO ally nations. The DB-110 pod is Seek Eagleapproved for the F-16 and is under foreign military sale contracts for Egypt, Poland, Greek and Moroccan F-16 programs. In addition, the DB-110 is in operational service on the Royal Air Force’s Tornado GR4 aircraft (designated Reconnaissance Airborne Pod for Tornado, RAPTOR) and the Japanese Marine Self Defence Force P-3C maritime patrol aircraft. For the Royal Air Force the system was also flight tested in the MQ-9 Reaper.
