President urges PM to all political parties for Seraiki province :
MULTAN: President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday called upon Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to immediately start consultative process with all the political parties with a view to make a separate Seraiki province in South Punjab.

The president said this during his meeting with a delegation of Peoples’ lawyer forum here.

Spokesperson to the president Senator Farhatullah Babar while giving details of the meeting said that the president was of the view that it was not politics but meant to respect and honour the aspiration of the people of South Punjab who have been feeling deprived for over sixty years and were demanding their just rights.

The president said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) promised giving identity to the people of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and we fulfilled our promise. Similarly we gave rights to our Balochi brothers and the people of Gilgit Baltistan. Now, he said, we have promised the people of this belt to cater to their aspirations and we would do our best to honour our commitment.

He said that the people of this area have every right to demand and have their own province and the party’s leadership respect their wishes and aspirations.

He said that this was the right time to give what people have been asking for so long. “If giving rights to the people is a crime, we will continue to commit such crimes,” Senator Babar quoted the president as saying.

The president said that meeting the aspirations of the people of South Punjab would further strengthen the federation and not weaken it.

He vowed to give the rights to the people of South Punjab during the tenure of the present government.

The president also said that PM Gilani was being targeted because of his support to the Seraiki province and also for his support to the party’s leadership.

Earlier, the president also had separate meetings, one with the parliamentarians belonging to South Punjab and the other with the women office bearers of the party belonging to Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran districts.

During his meetings, the president said that he felt great pleasure to be present among the representatives of the South Punjab and he would be regularly visiting the belt in future also.

Its is the only Punjabi speaking like Nawaz would say NO...but those who knows how Sarikies are deprived from years...they will say yes


Let me tell Multan was the CAPITAL of Sindh when Muhammad Bin Qasim came as invader... like Lahore is capital of Punjab now and Karchi of Sindh...But later God knows why this leading huge area(capital of Sindh) went in Punjab...When Pakistan came into existance then a Sariki state Bahawalpur ( comprising district Bahawalnugar, rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur)...Bahawalpur state remained independent during British rule and was a rich having its own raily system etc...but Sairiki state decided to be part of Pakistan...initially it was for a short time a province of Pakistan but....this state as independent was prosperous and its education system was a super one in Pakistan...but now from 60 years all the appointments are done through Punjab Public serivice commission offices staying at Lahore and every time most of the big posts in this Sariki area would be filled by upper punjabre's students. It's happending believe me..Unfortunately people of this too big area (area wise) remained illetrate as they were involved in agricuture mostly and hence they probably not protested when a head area of Sindh (Multan which was called the Golden Sparrow ...sowny ki chiryaa once) went on the Tail of Punjab and has been discriminated badly like Bengal, Balochistan...where more of resources are spent in the upper Punjab...even two universities in this area Bahawalpur university and Multan University would lack resources and their teachers are low paid and hence there teaching standard would always remain low as compared to Doctors and infrastructure in the upper Punjab areas...same for the other collegeses...once Bahawalpur was famous for all over sub-continent for Sadiq-Egerten College...Sadiq public school of sub-continent (these were so big basic educational system then but now more like ruined people says.....this is the resaon in the recruitment process all students from upper punjab would prevail from 60-year plus....Even in the sylabus it is mentioned that Sarikeee is sublanaguage of Punjabi which can never be...as Sarikies has alphabets 56 like Sindhi as there are five characters unique in these two langues and a non native speaker of these two languages would die but would never produce (as their vocal card can't produce)...Even in the marriage system Sarikies and Punjabi are rival and would regard different...but when it comes for unite province then Punjabi would cry we are same langauge and as all educational system was under the hands of upper Punajb, so they would say sairike is branch of Punjabi...Punjabi can be the branch of sariki but SAriki can never as its alphabet is superset of Punjabi...Sarikies love Pakistan and their punjabi, sindhi, pashto brothers...but from the movements of Sairiki province you can easily see impartially that there are million grounds to say that...If people of Pakhtoonkha and sindh on the base of language can have a province so does sairike...Punjabi speaking are sticken to Sariki speaking like a parents after marrying there sons would force them to remain in jointed family system...If you will let Sarikies to get separate still they will remain brother...but this will lead to more prosper Pakistan otherwise it is afriad that like Bengal and Balochistan ...there is another problem waiting....what Shahbaz sharif said to Peoples Party that Karchi should be separted...in 1998 census was declaring that 3rd biggest language among 6 big (Punjabi, Sindhi, Sariki, Pashto, Urdu, Balochi)...

but now Saraiki is the fourth most widely spoken language in Pakistan, behind Punjabi, Pashto, and Sindhi; and within Punjab Province it is one of the two major languages.

When balochi and Pashto numbers falls behind Sarikis can have their provence why Muslim league-N have so much love for Sarikis to remain in unity...It shows they are eating up Sarikies rights so have become a blanket...You know in Sarikies populated areas in special education college or other instituion there would be always Punjabi langauge offered ...what a dishonesty,discrepancy...if in your sindh if you have no teachers of Sindhi language rather you are having a teaching of Pashto or Balochi langue then what a joke? would you welcome...But for the first time in the history of Pakistan during this period they have recruited Sarikis teachers in some colleges....

Please support for the good cause ...for the people of Pakistan...

Personally, I don't see this being a definitive issue right now given the multiple problems we're facing. There is (as with all these announcements), politics at play. Never is such a decision taken for the benefit of the common man.

On a wider sense, it simply leads to further fragmentation of the nation, which I don't think is the best thing for Pakistan. We're already experiencing sectarian and ethnic violence, so how does this help?

It will simply spur those in the north west to campaign for a Hazara province, and that will again damage the unity of the nation IMO.

I don't have anything against the creation of provinces as such, which are properly managed, and where resources are shared equally. However, I see this being a step too far for our people where corruption is rife, and personal interest rules over improving the lives of the masses.

MUZAFFARGARH: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday rejected PML-N President Nawaz Sharif’s proposal of creating new administrative units, saying that the people of Saraiki belt wanted nothing less than a separate province for themselves.
Addressing a gathering of people from flood-hit communities, Gilani said Nawaz Sharif had recently proposed new administrative units in the country “but we reject this offer”. He said Saraiki people were “sober, kind-hearted and speak a sweet language” but it did not mean “they do not know what they want”.
“They do not compromise on principles. They hold their ground like I do whenever any problem arises,” the prime minister said.
He said a separate province was the demand of the people of southern Punjab which, he said, was a backward area lacking progress and harbouring a sense of deprivation.
Gilani praised the flood-hit people for showing resilience and courage while dealing with difficulties and losses they had faced during the natural calamity. The government realised the sufferings of people as the floods had destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and people’s livelihoods, the prime minister added.
He said that an upgraded Multan airport had made it possible that relief could easily be sent to seven flood-hit districts. “Because of the airport, it was also convenient for leaders of other countries to visit the flood-devastated areas,” he said.
The prime minister said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was a movement and mission having “ideological workers”. “I am prime minister of a party whose workers are committed and whose leaders such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto rendered sacrifices not for the office of prime minister but for the rights of people,” Gilani said.
The prime minister said the PPP had struggled for the restoration of democracy in the country. “I am prime minister because of the foundation built on the sacrifices of martyrs,” he added.
He said that although people had given the PPP a mandate for five years, some elements, including the media, wanted the government to quit early. “The PPP has millions of supporters and it is not in the government on the invitation of somebody... we will fulfill the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto”, Gilani said, adding, “We will not act as cowards as we are trustees of courageous leaders.”
The prime minister said women made 51 percent of the population and under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) they were not only getting financial assistance but also identity cards to have more role in national affairs. “Under BISP, women will also get health insurance, business opportunities and one youngster of a family will get technical education,” he said, adding that 100,000 jobs would be created in the upcoming budget for youth. The prime minister said former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had left the PPP because he wanted the Foreign Ministry but the party leadership offered him the Ministry for Water and Power. ap

Ideally, I'm in the favor of equal size administrative units (in terms of area and population proportion) not based on the ethnic reason but like labels X, Y,Z (on basis of specility of an administrative unit name should be given)....We all hate ethnic differences but when you yourself (belonging to an ethnic group says Punjabi sees by your sensible eyes depriveablity withyour specific creed then you bleed out...Do you remember what happend with bengalis...they were more in number in their language but they were imposed other language...same going with this province and resources share is not going to be equally distributed...people have to go for the visa offices in Lahore nearest one for the Sarikie HUGE belt...you know Lahore is so far from Khanpur (Sairikie remote area) like moving the whole england to go Lahore and for interviews people have to go Lahore far from Sariki area for NOT GETTING selected....If any person having justice can't see the problems and while others are enjoying resources on the basis of ethnciy like pukhtoonkha and other provinces created during this regime then why not on the basis of ethnicity....I think dividing is better then loosing (Bengaladesh at a point)....These problems are 60 years long and satus quo and ignoring and treating like arrogance would not help either I must say for our beloved Pakistan...Every one admit that jointed family system is a grave failure...please let younger brother go separated and remain united in Islam and Pakistan umbrella...

As Imran Khan quoted that in Erope (UK) their administrative unit are small one...our Punjab is so big brother in all province making it so instable as around 55% population is from this province...and mostly from Pakistan existance people says prime minister or head of the government would be from this province...

Between Province is possible NOW or NEVER, as Zaradari and Gilani both are Sariki speaking and if they have opened eyes then they should do a justice within all provinces (our brothers)....Let's discuss the advantages of new provinces?

Baluchistan is ideally suited for that as it has large land mass, access to strategic shipping lanes and plenty of opportunities. Let see how many corrupt baluch sardars agree to this? PPP is only creating provinces to create its own voter bank.

I agree with you bro on a part (means he is corrupt and saving the votebank)...So indirectly you are admitting that he will be getting more vote ( your statement is confessing and infering that it is the voice of Sarikies and they will cast him vote for making a province...so this proves that there is problem of injustice already there and Zardari will be using that problem for his cause...but you know it would be a win-win deal...I hate Zardari as much as a national but when it comes 'zulm' then you will follow even a corrupt if that person is giving you your right....You know there total two colleges in whole Punjab for special education, when Lahore Government established 2nd college in Sariki belt then they posted total five teachers for all blind, hearing imparied students...one english, one islamiat, one Pak studies, one computer and one for the Punjabi langue...so they show there colors of injustice everywhere...is it so necessary for special sariki children to learn Punjabi language in sariki belt area...what about the infrastructure...I'm no expert but in all my life I have seen educated Sarikies crying that how only cleaner and peon in every area are Sariki while others high post are by Punjabis...so as this is happening in this belt from 60 years so now all above post are acquired by them and napotism and corruption is part of our blood as a nation and you will see less sarikis....
You are talking about Zardari (It is supposed that they are baloch from balochistan and they were originally sarikis) ...So even Zardari was not in politics active, then Hakim Zardari said that Sarikies people deserve a province as they are among the BIG majority(more than balochis, pashtos, nearly equal Sindhis) who are aleady having provinces, he further said that Sarikis also deserve as they have their own land (area a big Sarikie belt starting from khan pur near the Sindh and goes to Dera ghazi khan to Dera Ismail Khan...even in Balochistan many are sarikies and in India as well)...What Sarikies are saying is making sense as big majority and having their own area from centries....they were the leader of Sindh and cleaner of Punjab (SADLY treated like this...We all need to see the reasons behind the movement and how old is the movement struggling...even Sir SADIQ of Bahawalpur has given so much sacrifices and supported all his money for Pakistan and they get what?

When Developed nations like UK can have little provinces why not here (we pray these should not be on ethnic basis as no one like division in hearts but border for manangements is fine and to fascilite and make a justice is fine)

I do strongly agree to split Balochistan in three and any other where it makes sense and a cause...By spliting Punjab would make a sense that at least it is huge imbalanced population in relation to other provinces...by making Sarikies would give a positive competion among other provinces. first of all a bit balance in population among provinces.Sindh province would contribute 15% then Sarikies would contribute 13% of population and too big imbalanced Punjab population would get to 46%...Actually I believe if possible we should split Punajab in three provinces (so ratio of population go all balanced).......I believe it will help Pakistan as then resources distribution(such as problem of floor, coal, electricity with respect to proportion would go otherwise upper punjab get more would be equal...there will be no one manadated government from Punjab always as 15% people would be in another container ...and it will make in some...we actually need some parameter to revise the logical boundaries of our provinces...
