DUBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Chief Selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has rejected all the speculations about captaincy changes being on the cards.

Talking to Geo News exclusively, Inzamam expressed his confidence in the current skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and praised the skipper’s leadership skills. The chief selector was witnessing Pakistan A Team match against Australian A team at the ICC Academy Dubai. “There is no question over Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy,” he recalled the thumping victory in the ICC Champions trophy. He acknowledged: “The captain and his team mates have defeated Australian cricket team in Zimbabwe.”

Sarfaraz Ahmed has been retained as the captain of Pakistan cricket team in all the three formats. He was named Pakistan's ODI Captain in February 2017 after Azhar Ali stepped down. Inzamam-ul-Haq stated that the team performance is an “eye opener” for the selection committee but expressed the hope that the team would display better skills in the future series. The chief selector said: “No one owns when the team performed below expectations”, and added, “but whenever they achieve victory, everyone owns them.”

He admitted that the performance in Asia Cup was alarming and below par but expressed the hope that the team including skipper Sarfaraz will once again lift the hopes of the nation.

Pakistan cricket team is kicking-off its long home-series in the United Arab Emirates against Australia and New Zealand from Oct 2018.

Even Look the activities of Inzimam , he is more busy in tableegh and spends more time in mosque during tours instead of game plan, No plan A, Plan B in matches.
He should resign or we need to change him so that some other make and put all efforts & focus on cricket .

Well, yes. If you're into tableegh, chief selector is not your job. He's just there on parchi basis and I hope IK fixes up PCB.

I would give sarfaraz another year to see if he improves, if not then he needs to go. changing him right now is not a wise decision as WC is just around the corner.

I am all for Sarfaraz staying in the team, as prior to becoming captain his batting stats were decent. The burden of captaincy is however clearly taking a toll on him. The only problem is who can replace him as captain. Other than Malik, no other viable candidate is present in this team. Most are too young or not capped enough times to have the required experiance and authority.

Sarfaraz has no leadership qualities . He get in pressure easily and start shouting/screaming which send wrong signal to players. Body language you display on field is very important . I think shoib malik is better candidate for captaincy

Hafeez is a class player, but is being sidelined either at Inzees behest or it's Sarfaraz who doesn't want him to be in the team. A players selection should be on his cricketing stats and form, and not what the chief selector or captain prefer. A captain takes charge of the situation and delivers when needed, but Sarfaraz only excel at throwing tantrums and what to speak of Inzimam, one of the worst captains in the history Pakistani cricket with immense temper and behavioural issues throughout his cricketing career.
