ISLAMABAD: Chief Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan Sunday described removal of Zulfiqar Mirza from Sindh home ministry as a PPP’s personal decision, adding that ANP considers Saraiki majority region ‘a province’, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference here, ANP chief denied impression of other parties’ involvement in Mirza’s ouster.

“ANP will punish its activists if found involved in criminal activities in Karachi,” he claimed.

He said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s Afghanistan visit would bear good fruits and termed PM’s visit ‘an onset’ of resolution to Pak-Afghan conflicts.

To a question, he said only FATA is a terrorism-torn region. He lauded the government’s resolve to take all coalition partners on board before budget for the next fiscal year.

“ANP has constituted a party to seek budget advices,” he added, urging that the government must implement on 18th amendment.

ANP has kicked off registration of new members to reorganize party, he announced. “Inter-party elections will be held on October 15, ” he informed.

Personally I would love to see Saraiki region turned into a province because that way Multan would get much more development. Same goes for Hazara region, FATA, northern Balochistan and Karachi.

Karachi should be a special Region with more autonomy. It's too big for a province to handle it and other cities in Sindh right now aren't getting a lot of development. And Hyderabad then being the capital city would get much more needed development.

Sorry miss but more autonomy for Karachi is the way to go. Karachi is in the wrong hands right now. We don't want CM Qaim Ali Shah making decision for us. The area of Karachi is massive and so is the population. Frankly right now PPP Sindh government has failed plus we have a drunk administrator. This will also help curb crime since the police will be solely for Karachi and so will the government. I wont have to worry for some feudal in Khairpur or Larkana making decisions for us.

Where did I bring MQM in this? Making Karachi an autonomous region is a must right now. Since you brought MQM in this then Farooq Sattar or Mustafa Kamal should be the governor of Karachi. And yes MQM is the only party that has made progress and development in Karachi.

Giving it more autonomy will simply mean Karachi will become self governing state under Pakistan. It'll be separate from Sindh. Yes Karachi belongs to all of Pakistan but please don't feed me that emotional bull. Where was all of Pakistan in the 80s and 90s when innocent Karachiiites were slaughtered on a daily basis?

Asfandyar Sahab, there is more of a chance of a Hindko majority Hazara region to be carved out of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa than a Saraiki majority province out of Punjab.

Have you forgotten what Hindko speaking Hazaras of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were demanding when you changed the name of your province.

And I must admit the Hindko speaking Hazara majority areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are one of the most beautiful places in the world and the Hindko speaking Hazaras are one of the most patriotic Pakistanis I have ever met in my life. Maybe we should've listened to them and not this Asfandyar, grandson of traitor bacha khan also known as frontier gandhi.
