AMRITSAR: Family members of Sarabjit Singh have approached vice chairman of SC/ST commission seeking his intervention in getting visa to visit Pakistan.
Dalbir Kaur, sister, and Swapandeep Kaur, elder daughter of Sarabjit Singh arrived Amritsar from Jalandhar on Saturday morning while his wife Sukhpreet Kaur and younger daughter Poonam arrived here from Bhikhiwind, native village of Sarabjit Singh, to hold meeting with Raj Kumar at his residence.
"We are trying to get visa to visit Pakistan so we could meet Papa in hospital and take care of him" said Swapandeep Kaur while talking to TOI. She said that it was unfortunate that despite her father being in critical condition they were not able to visit Pakistan.
Earlier Sarabjit's family had met him in jail in April 2008 and then in June 2011.
On Friday, Sarabjit Singh was attacked by fellow inmates of Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat with bricks following which he was admitted in hospital where his condition is reported to be critical.
"I will go to Pakistan and take care of my husband" said Sarabjit's wife Sukhpreet Kaur.
Dalbir Kaur said the family would first go to Golden Temple to pay obeisance seeking Almighty's blessings for long life of Sarabjit Singh.
Vice Chairman SC/ST commission Dr. Raj Kumar said that he had taken passports and visa application forms of the family and would be leaving for Delhi in couple of hours time. "We will do everything possible to help the family to visit Pakistan" he said
