Featured Samsung to Use Pakistan-origin SiFive RISC-V Cores for SoCs, Automotive, 5G Applications

Something to be proud of in a long time.

Pakistan should take Pakistani-origin in foreign countries seriously - much talent in these people. OECD countries also enable them to do things which are not possible to accomplish in Pakistan due to lack of prerequisite infrastructure and culture. Pakistan should reach out to these individuals to facilitate Pakistani bilateral dealings with their respective host countries, and create job opportunities as well as R&D infrastructure within Pakistan (if possible for them).

the title is misleading
the company is American headed by Pakistani-American
@LeGenD

if this company is able to transfer this technology to Pakistan for indigenous manufacture only then it will benefit us otherwise we will remain dependent on foreign imported equipment like in past, the company ceo should take initiative for developing even small R and D center to train our engineers and youth inside Pakistan so our country benefit from it in real sense

for starters this is a fabless semiconductor company if you understand what that means

Naveed Sherwani is not a co-founder but an appointed CEO. SiFive's Leadership page clearly mentions Yunsup Lee, Krste Asanovic and Andrew Waterman as the co-founders. The same is confirmed in the Bio of each individual member

His LinkedIn page also says he's the Chairman, President & CEO of SiFive but not "Co-Founder" unless there's a different profile you're looking at

I admire your efforts to prove hard that he's the co-founder but StarFive Technologies isn't the same as SiFive. It is a chinese arm setup due to US-China trade war. Take a look at the employees. There are only 10 people associated with two CEO's for StarFive, one being Naveed and the other is Thomas Xu

Here's a list of SiFive's arms
SemiFive Co. Ltd: Seongnam-si, South Korea
StarFive Technology Co. Ltd: Shanghai, China
LeapFive: US/China
ExaLeap LLC: Santa Clara, California

Who disputes that Starfive is SiFive’s subsidiary in China? If he was simply appointed to the position, why is he the cofounder of the Chinese subsidiary? The cofounders that you have listed are the original inventors of the RISC-V technology which SiFive was able to bring into the organization. You can watch the video here

anyways, even if Naveed is simply the CEO, President and Chairman of the company and not the founder, so what? His current role makes him the most powerful man in the company. Besides, SiFive is a small fish compared to Cavium which was founded by Pakistani-American and acquired in a $6-billion deal by Marvell. I understand Indians can’t stomach such news, but you guys are embarrassing yourselves with such laughable temper tantrums.

I was only pointing out the fact that he isn't the co-founder of SiFive...never questioned his capabilities nor his position of being the most powerful man in the company. Looking at the credentials of the three co-founders, it's evident that they're expertise is on the technical side which is why they brought in a CEO who could project the company on a global scale

It might be Naveed's plan to open up a sub in China which is why he's the co-founder of StarFive

Are you serious? Naveed Sherwani Is the co-founder of Open-Silicon a semiconductor company which merged with SiFive with Naveed Sherwani becoming the chairman, ceo and president of the company. There’s no way you can dismiss him as a business guy brought in to lead the company. He’s an industry leader and helped found many semiconductor companies.

the rest of your drivel is pointless as is this whole exchange.

Intel-Backed Chip Startup SiFive Acquires Open-Silicon
By Aaron Tilley

· 2 years ago · Source: The Information
With the emergence of artificial intelligence, it seems like every tech company looking to get an edge over the competition has begun making their own custom chips. SiFive wants to help them build those chips. The startup just got bigger thanks to the acquisition of a 250-person custom chipmaker called Open-Silicon, The Information has learned. SiFive CEO Naveed Sherwani confirmed.

It looks like you have serious comprehension issues. How exactly does Naveed become the Co-founder of SiFive? Sifive came into existence in 2015 while Naveed joined the company in 2017. Naveed is the Co-Founder of Open-Silicon (the other Co-Founder being Indian Origin Satya Gupta) which was acquired by SiFive (in 2018) who's co-founders are three UCB grads Yunsup Lee, Krste Asanovic and Andrew Waterman

Secondly, I did not dismiss him as a business guy but given his expertise in the field and being associated with multiple semicon and chip companies in the past, he was brought in to lead the company

Just so you know, Open-Silicon is now based out of Bengaluru, India with an additional office in Pune, Maharashtra

You’re the one with the comprehension issues.

By your own logic, if the three co-founders you listed now become president/ceo of the company, that means they are no longer co-founders? Ridiculous.

Naveed was the co-founder, President and CEO of Open-Silicon while at the same time being ceo, President and chairman of SiFive. What does that tell you? Open-silicon having presence in India means nothing. Open-silicon also has presence in Pakistan.

I am done with your circular argument and I suggest mods to delete your pointless posts @waz @LeGenD
