We already have an ugly image world wide, thanks for adding to the ugliness.

And never will the Jews and the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allāh is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allāh no protector or helper. Quran 2:120

Zalmay Khalilzad was quite succesful (although that’s the only one that comes to mind at the moment)

Plus Rashida Thlaib and Ilhan Omar in Congress

Khalilzad is like Chalabi of Iraq. An agent to control the country.

Omar and Thalib are voted positions not appointed and they are still under harsh attacks.

Show me an example in central bank or federal reserve or military.

Interesting twist to that fatwa is that Khomeini withdrew or rescinded it approximately 10 years after the original decree. He said it was no longer necessary and not in effect, which somewhat makes this criminal act that much more interesting in the sense if this guy did it out of his own volition or.....?

I would like to think that at 24 yo, I was much more interested in way too many other things than something like this. Strengthening my faith, my fiancé, fast cars, work & earning more $, planning for the future etc. Very difficult to understand the mindset to pull something off like this at this age, despite understanding all the religious aspects involved with it.

I think you got some facts mixed up here. The Fatwa was never rescinded, Khomeini was dead set on taking the guy out, but he died shortly after the Fatwa was declared. The Fatwa then remained under the current leader Khamenei, their was a slight modification where they would not support but also would not prevent anyone who took it upon themselves to attack Salman, in effect declaring neutrality, but on the other hand the bounty on his head was raised by the most major religious foundation in Iran, which I would imagine would be controlled or have input by Khamenei himself.
They never forgot about Salman even after all this time as on occasion they would mention him in newspapers

I suppose faith supersedes all that for many people, and in this case even if Salman doesn't die, clearly the damage has been done permanently, especially if he can no longer speak. His family if they are in Lebanon would be financially taken care of by Iran and the 3 million$ would go to them. This is usually the case. After 10 years or so, Iran would do a prisoner swap with him and some American.

Plus the fatwa was decreed with a $3 million award which is strange in of itself. Fatwas are religious decrees that aren't supposed to have monetary compensations from what I know.
Theirs some confusion about this.

You are correct Fatwa has nothing to do with money, Fatwa is a religious duty as you know, and no monetary incentive is required.

The 3 million$ bounty was laid by a independent Islamic foundation in Iran, not by the official government in Iran or by Khamenei via decree.

Technically anyone can just add financial bounty on him on their own accord

Some more details released.

Whats the likelyhood that his speech is gone for good.

Rushdie's injuries included three stab wounds to the right side of the front of his neck, four stab wounds to his stomach, a puncture wound to his right eye, a puncture wound to his chest, and a laceration on his right thigh, according to Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt, who provided details of the injuries during Matar's arraignment.

Hadi Matar is a brave brother. He has done what 1.8 billion muslims have been unable to do for the past 30 years.
Not unable, but unwilling. Countering Rushdie’s arguments with better arguments is the only way to win for good.

See Sura Isra verse 81; “and say, Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, by its nature, bound to perish”

Do you remember Christopher Hitchens? He opposed wars like Vietnam but supported the Iraq and Afghan wars. He passed away from cancer in 2011, and he was another atheist that spoke his controversial opinions but has basically been forgotten by most people.
