Sajid Javid to be UK home secretary after Windrush scandal resignation

Sadiq khan was a massive failure with acid attacks, terror attacks and violent crime skyrocketing in London.Congratz on turning london into the subcontinent style mess.Who knows what this guy will be like.
Conservative party police funding cuts is the reason there has been a spike in crime in london

sajid khan is of the labour party, they are not in power. conservative government increase the police budget to what it was previously the crime will drop. simple

Do they blame all the rapes in India on the head of the mayor of the city the crimes take place in?

.
I'm not a fan of the Conservatives but I hope a person of Pakistani and Muslim heritage as home secretary means that us British Pakistanis' interests will be protected.

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The second most powerful person - Sajid Javid in UK government is of Pakistani heritage

Not bad guys .... keep it up! You can't keep good stuff down. It rises. Like bubbles in air.

Why did you get negative rating?

Soon UK will become 5th state of Pakistan.
Nope it will be 2nd state as Pakistan right now only has one state i.e Azad Kashmir others are provinces

It's not that he will go out to protect British Pakistani interests. He is a home secretary and can't be seen to be partial - in fact those on the far right like Tommy Robinson will be in pangs of agony and looking out to lambast him.

However every time the name "Pakistan" is associated with a positive and all the media have reported Sajid as "son of a poor migrant from Pakistan" it aggregates value to our community and it becomes that more difficult for our detractors to disparage. That is why it is important for all of us to do well and bring respect t our community.

It seems like British Pakistanis are either on the very top of the British society or on the very bottom - and only a few are part of the middle class. Am I wrong?

@Kambojaric @Kaptaan
Well, that is probably slicing it too simple. One of the unfortunate problems that British Pakistani's have is most of the community is clustered in northern mill towns. This is where the first wave of migrants moved to in 1950/60s. The problem is this part of UK is working class, poor and overlooked by rest of the country. Of course this is a general comment but if you look at elections this is Labour territory. Today the mils have closed and jobs are lacking. This applies to all groups in the north. The schools are atrocious. All this has sadly locked the Pakistani community into lower class existence with a Pakistan twist. However the community is talented and what happens when people have talent that is in excess of opportunities available? They go make those opportunities. That is why we have many of our young in drugs or other rackets. Much of the drugs are bought through Turkey and inevitably have a Turkish angle.

Bizarrely though many British Pakistani's are in the police force (my brother is a police officer and when I heard the news about Sajid I sent hima text "say hello to your new *pakee* boss) and do rather well. So on one hand we have so many drug gangsters but then so many in the police including many very high up the chain of command like Assistant Commisioner Tariq Gaffur (was second in command of London Metropolitan police) and we even had Afzal Nazar who was chief prosecutor with UK Crown Prosecuting Service.

And I am minded of saying that we do far better then the credit we get on media. Being Muslim in this day and age means we are easy targets. But it is for us to fight this misperception.

I know that but he is a British Pakistani and a Muslim himself so he most likely won't have negative prejudice against us. He also won't be so out of touch with our community.

Yeah, we as a community need to integrate more into British society but for the Muslims amongst us, we shouldn't put it in front of our faith which is what many British Pakistani Muslims feel. That is what makes integration so much harder for us than for British Indians because, for most of them, religion is much more part of their culture than a way of life so they tend to get on better with other ethnic groups in my view.

It also boils my blood when I hear news of Pakistani child abusers as they bring so much shame to our community.

to bad he dont care about pakistan and holds a more favourable view of india, or is all forgiven?

Sadiq khan was a massive failure with acid attacks, terror attacks and violent crime skyrocketing in London.Congratz on turning london into the subcontinent style mess.Who knows what this guy will be like.
thats because of police cuts and their reduction in powers.

. . .
have you even seen what he's been saying?
oh and my india.........hell no
Eh the joke went over your head : P I was referring to "arse" when I said India but I seriously haven't heard him say anything negative about Pakistan though he has said a few (not extraordinary) positive things about India.

first of all he has not said anything good about pakistan. the only thing thing that makes him pakistani is his parents and siblings, his wife is christain and he has said openly he is not a muslim. he is more of a brown brit than a british pakistani.

.
first of all he has not said anything good about pakistan.
"LONDON: Britain’s Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Sajid Javid MP says creation of Pakistan is a milestone which means pride to Pakistanis all over the world, including 1.2 million British Pakistanis who take strong pride in their heritage."

and he has said openly he is not a muslim. he is more of a brown brit than a british pakistani.
He's never said that. He's just said that he isn't practising. He's referred to himself as a Muslim in some speeches and interviews.

Neither has he said anything bad. It's logical to assume that he will be empathetic with the British Pakistani community as he himself is a member of it, whether anyone likes it or not.

the only thing thing that makes him pakistani is his parents and siblings, his wife is christain and he has said openly he is not a muslim. he is more of a brown brit than a british pakistani.
None of those things caste him out from being a Pakistani. There are many Christian British Pakistanis as well as non-religious ones.
How would you define a "British Pakistani" then? Someone who conforms to your stereotypes of a bearded Muslim man with a funny accent?

Your brought up in Britain but appear to be more narrow minded then some oaf in some backwrd village in Pakistan. His parents are Pakistani. That means his heritage is Pakistani. You are born into your heritage. You can't lose it or buy it. For instance if his dad has land in Pakistan which comes from his forefathers Sajid will have a claim on it irrespective of if he turns white, yellow, becomes a Rastafarian, castrates himself to become a eunech etc.

Below is the census sheet with categories for ethnic groups. What do you think Sajid ticked? Brown Brit??? Can you find it please? Or did he tick British - Pakistani?

And as Home Secretery he will have to cover all communities including Indians and if needed say good things about India. That is what jobs like this require. I would rather him sayt good things about India then lose his job because of some disparaging comment like we do on PDF. I would much rather a athiest, white pretending, gay with Pakistani heritage in position of power then a rabble rousing spouting Islam at every sentence as the latter is of no good to anybody - indeed he is a liability.

My brother is police officer and he runs, talks, walks like rest of his buddies. Although he does not drink but last week when his team of officers went for in the evening he went along because he knows the importance of fitting in. Some slack, some give/take is no harm. Many of you guys might consider him a coconut but inside he is die hard British-Pakistan and proud, aware of his heritage. If you run into him he has told me he will be looking out for 'his' people. That is not to say he will be corrupt but that he will even the score and try help out the community.

you missed my point, how about if i explain it in another way. he is pakistani by blood, but british by heart.

now he has to be neutral yes, as his job entails working with many different countries and picking sides will result in an early redundancy.

i understand the point and it is valid, but it does not matter.
