There is a massive corruption involve in this deal considering the revenue of Sahara India Pariwar was 73,000 crore INR, this deal is worth more than their entire revenue. I wonder why a tender was not issued if a sovereign guarantee was given.

Let sahara and bal proceed together. india does lots of things in BD's favor, to name a few:

* building dams on river flowing to BD
* keeping bsf stand on border to kill Bangladeshi
* funding raw to play in our soil

All these require heavy funding which they collect from us like through satellite tv they earn tk 2000 crore a year good enough to finance bsf beast. Along with this there are big indian export revenue from BD, airtel revenue. Now with sahara revenue from BD they can increase the degree of favor to us like their tipaimukh dam expense, inter river connectivity expense will be fueled from new revenue coming from BD as well as destroy the embryonic real estate industry of BD. In short any favor they do to us will be funded by the money they earn from us .

রাজধানীর চারপাশে কয়েকটি স্যাটেলাইট সিটি নির্মাণ করার জন্য ভারতের শিল্পগোষ্ঠী ‘সাহারা’র সঙ্গে সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষর করেছে রাজউক। স্মারক স্বাক্ষর এবং প্রধানমন্ত্রীসহ বিশিষ্টজনদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকের পর ‘সাহারা’র চেয়ারম্যান জানিয়েছেন, এই প্রকল্পে তারা ১০ থেকে ১২ কোটি মার্কিন ডলার বিনিয়োগ করবেন। তাদের নির্মিত সিটিগুলোতে দুই লাখ ফ্ল্যাট এবং ৩০ হাজার প্লট থাকবে। এজন্য জমি লাগবে এক লাখ একর। পর্যায়ক্রমে দেশের আরও কিছু এলাকায়ও ব্যবসা সম্প্রসারিত করা হবে। এ উদ্দেশ্যে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার এক ভাইপোকে পরিচালক বানিয়ে একটি কোম্পানি গঠনের ঘোষণাও দিয়েছেন ‘সাহারা’র চেয়ারম্যান। বিষয়টিকে উপলক্ষ বানিয়ে সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে বিদেশি বিনিয়োগ আনার গালপল্প শোনানো হলেও ব্যবসায়ী ও অর্থনীতিবিদসহ তথ্যাভিজ্ঞ মহল কিন্তু আন্তর্জাতিক টেন্ডার ছাড়া সরাসরি ‘সাহারা’কে নির্মাণ কাজ দেয়ার তীব্র বিরোধিতা করেছেন। আমরাও পদক্ষেপটিকে সমর্থন করি না। স্যাটেলাইট সিটি নির্মাণের এ পরিকল্পনা নিশ্চয়ই রাতারাতি করা হয়নি। কিন্তু জনগণ দূরে থাকুক, এত বড় একটি বিষয়ে সরকার জাতীয় সংসদকেও কিছুই জানায়নি। সম্পূর্ণ আয়োজনই করা হয়েছে চুপিচুপি। অথচ এ ধরনের বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার কর্মকাণ্ডে জাতীয় সংসদকে শুধু নয়, রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর পাশাপাশি নাগরিক সমাজকেও সংশ্লিষ্ট রাখা উচিত ছিল। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পরিবার জড়িত রয়েছে বলেই এত রাখঢাক কিনা সে প্রশ্ন উঠতেই পারে। উঠেছেও। তাছাড়া ‘সাহারা’ কিন্তু ভারতে সফল শিল্পগোষ্ঠী হিসেবে দাঁড়াতে পারেনি। বিমান পরিবহনের মতো কিছু ব্যবসায় লাটেও উঠেছে ‘সাহারা’। অমন একটি অসফল গোষ্ঠীকেই রীতিমত দাওয়াত করে নিয়ে এসেছে সরকার। কথা আরও আছে। প্রথমে লাখ-হাজার-কোটি টাকার কথা শোনা গেলেও এখন জানা যাচ্ছে, মোবালগে হাজার-বারোশ’ কোটি টাকার বেশি বিনিয়োগ করবে না ‘সাহারা’। ‘সাহারা’ এমনকি প্রাথমিক বিনিয়োগের জন্যও বাংলাদেশের কাছে অর্থ চাইতে শুরু করেছে। ঋণের বিপরীতে সুদও তারা অনেক কম দিতে চায়। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পরিবার জড়িত থাকায় সরকারকেও এসব বিষয়ে ‘সাহারা’র সঙ্গে তাল মেলাতে হবে। বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের গভর্নর সে রকম আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন বলে শোনা যাচ্ছে। শুধু তা-ই নয়, সাহারা শুধু স্যাটেলাইট সিটি ও বিভিন্ন স্থাপনাই নির্মাণ করবে না, সেগুলো বিক্রি ও বিলিবণ্টন করার একচেটিয়া অধিকারও নাকি তাদের হাতেই থাকবে। অর্থাত্ সবদিক থেকেই মাছের তেলে মাছ ভেজে লাভের গুড় নিয়ে যাবে সাহারা।
আমরা বিদেশি বিনিয়োগের বিরোধী নই বরং দেশের উপকার হতে পারে এমন সব খাতে বিদেশিদের সানন্দে স্বাগত জানাতে প্রস্তুত। প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে, ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য ও উন্নয়নের অন্য অসংখ্য খাত থাকতে বেছে বেছে রিয়েল এস্টেট খাতে বিনিয়োগের জন্যই ‘সাহারা’কে ডেকে আনা হলো কেন? ‘সাহারা’কে শিল্প স্থাপনের জন্য বলা যেত, স্বাস্থ্য ও বিদ্যুত্ খাতে বিনিয়োগ করলেও দেশ ব্যাপকভাবে উপকৃত হতো। এয়ারটেল ও অ্যাপোলোর মতো ভারতের বহু প্রতিষ্ঠানই তো স্বাস্থ্য ও টেলিযোগাযোগসহ বিভিন্ন খাতে বিনিয়োগ করেছে। গার্মেন্ট খাতেও ভারতীয়দের সংখ্যা উল্লেখযোগ্য। লাভও ভারতীয়রা যথেষ্ট পরিমাণেই করছে। কিন্তু অন্যান্য খাতে সম্ভাবনা থাকা সত্ত্বেও ‘সাহারা’কে এমন একটি খাতেই বিনিয়োগের সুযোগ দেয়া হয়েছে যার মাশুল গুনতে গিয়ে জনগণকে শুধু চাষের জমি নয়, বাপ-দাদার ভিটাবাড়িও হারাতে হবে। আমাদের আপত্তিও এখানেই। কারণ, দেশে চাষাবাদের জমি এমনিতেই দ্রুত কমে যাচ্ছে। ভূমি দস্যুদের দৌরাত্ম্যে রাজধানীসহ বড় কোনো নগরীর আশপাশেই আজকাল চাষাবাদের জমি চোখে পড়ে না। ‘সাহারা’ কার্যক্রম শুরু করলে বাকি সব জমিও খুইয়ে ফেলতে হবে। জনগণ সেটা মেনে নিতে চাইবে না। প্রসঙ্গক্রমে অড়িয়ল বিলে বিমানবন্দর নির্মাণ চেষ্টার কথা স্মরণ করা দরকার। সেবার জমি দখল করতে গিয়ে যে অভিজ্ঞতা হয়েছে তাকে নিশ্চয়ই মধুর বলার উপায় নেই। সুতরাং ধরে নেয়া যায়, কথিত স্যাটেলাইট সিটির জন্য জমি—তাও এক লাখ একর জমি যোগাড় করাটা মোটেও সহজ হবে না। ধানি জমির প্রশ্ন ওঠে না, কেউ এমনকি বসতবাড়িও বিক্রি করতে চাইবে না। ভয়ের কারণ হলো, সরকার যেহেতু চুক্তি করে ফেলেছে সেহেতু ‘সাহারা’র জন্য জমির ব্যবস্থা করতেই হবে। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পরিবার জড়িত থাকায় সরকার জোর করেই ভূমি দখল করার চেষ্টা চালাবে। তখনই ছড়িয়ে পড়বে সংঘাত। হাতে ক্ষমতা ও পুলিশ রয়েছে বলে সরকার জিততে চাইবে, সাময়িকভাবে হয়তো জিতেও যাবে। কিন্তু দীর্ঘ মেয়াদে এর অশুভ পরিণতি শুধু সরকারকে নয় ‘সাহারা’কেও ভোগ করতে হবে। এসব কারণেই আমরা মনে করি, রিয়েল এস্টেটে নয়, ‘মাতৃভূমির’ জন্য সত্যি ‘টান’ থাকলে ‘সাহারা’কে অন্য কোনো খাতে বিনিয়োগ করতে বলা দরকার।

Just my 2 cents for you. Be a sovereign nation 1st, then welcome them. Bangladesh is in a state of welcoming foreign investment, if so, why people are against it...think about it. There is difference between being an independent nation and a sovereign nation. All rivers flowing to Bangladesh from india are dammed, even an enemy state will not do it. There's no border in the world where people are dying like ours are. Recently I read an experience of a Khulna University student in somewherein blog where he said that when they were on excursion to Jaflong, Sylhet, they faced some bsf. At one moment a bsf officer told him "there has been no no man's land since 71 war between Bangladesh and india".

People are skeptical that anything good might happen with their participation, this feeling became concrete with 41 years experience, it's not a sudden emotion. Towards Bangladesh they are always with a mean minded policy and looking for free meal.

Mr Roy said he was indeed in Lucknow but had stepped out to consult doctors about his ailing mother.

On Wednesday, angry judges ordered the businessman's arrest after his lawyer said the Sahara chief had been unable to appear in court since his 92-year-old mother was very unwell.

Mr Roy and his rags-to-riches life story is a household name in India.

His group, worth 682bn rupees ($11bn; £6.6bn), has businesses ranging from finance, housing, manufacturing, aviation and the media. It also has interests overseas - it owns New York's landmark Plaza Hotel and London's iconic Grosvenor House.

Sahara didn't really con or duped any investor, investor are not complaining about being cheated, it is the regulatory body SEBI accusing Sahara that they don't have the rights to take deposits from the retail investors under particularly two sister concerns of Sahara. And Sahara chief was arrested for not appearing to the court on a given date, and not for the charge itself. Sahara chief claimed that his 92 year old mother was not well.

He ran from law for far too long, I hope courts jail him.

I dont trust the guy. He is sai baba of Industry. Sahara pranam my foot!!!, and apparently he is the managing worker of company and people are supposed to touch his feet.
