Sahadat.

Long live Pakistan and the brave sons of the soil. We must as individuals and as a nation ensure that their extreme sacrifices are not in vain.

On a different note the last rites ceremony should be a lot more formal/impressive and well choreographed -- after all, the whole nation is saying good bye to the ones who has given their ultimate -- their lives. It also leaves a long lasting effect on those who are attending the ceremony.

Maybe we need to have these burials in the major millitary graveyards with better uniforms and a proper gun salute.

Any opinions on my suggestion?

It's up to the families of the Shuhuda. I think most families would like their loved sons to be buried nearby.

In any case, our religion, Islam, teaches us that a dead body is simply a body not a showpiece. It is required that the burial ceremony and grave be simple, not extravagant. However, I think there's nothing wrong with showing a little more respect by having a fully-fledged ceremony for every Shaheed.

When a soldier's body returns from Afghanistan Canada, it is transported in a C-17 Globemaster from where it is taken through a stretch of highway known as the "Highway of Heroes" (a few kilometers from my house). That road leads to the a Canadian Forces Base where they are given a very solid ceremony. All this happens regardless of rank and the family members of the deceased are flown in from any part of Canada. It is definitely something to behold, very graceful indeed.

Nations that honor their fallen heros live on! We need to make this a more dignified send-off after all it is send-off to a person who gave the extreme sacrafice for his motherland.

just watched "Taking Chance" even though it is about an American Marines' last ride home (his coffin is transported back home for last rites) it says it all for those who lay down their lives for their country, honour, diginty, and in our case religion. We might not agree with the politics of the Americans, but the human angle is the same every where -- it is true story.

May his supreme his and his other comrades' supreme sacrafices do not go in vain -- Amen.

On another note, does any one know how he died? As per my info. he was part of the heliborne rescue team that was sent after 12 hours to retrieve the bodies of the two pilots of the Cobra shot down by taliban in tirah valley. If this is true than why a brig. was leading the rescue into known hostile area where a heli had been shot by unknown weapom just 12 hours before? And this was without covering/suppression support from heli gunships. There is serious tactics lapse here!!!!
