Saudi ministries have been given three years to fire all of their expatriate workers, local media reported on Wednesday, in the latest clampdown against foreign labour in the kingdom.

It comes as part of the kingdom's ambitious national transformation programme for 2020, which will see government positions filled by Saudis and a massively reduced public sector.

Heads of government departments were reportedly told by the ministry of civil service this week that only Saudi nationals would be able to work in public sector jobs by the end of 2020.

There was no clarification about whether this includes workers in public schools and hospitals, or in government-owned oil giant Aramco.

"There will be no expatriate workers in the government after 2020," Abdullah al-Melfi, deputy minister for civil service, instructed ministry officials during a meeting.

"The complete nationalisation of government jobs is an important objective of the national transformation programme 2020 and the kingdom's Vision 2030," Melfi added.

The workshop concentrated on the kingdom's national transformation programme for 2020, according to Saudi Gazette.

It means that ministries will be forced to sack 70,000 foreign workers over the next three years and make room for Saudi nationals.

Saudi Arabia is also pursuing an aggressive diversification plan known as Vision 2030, which looks at massively expanding the private sector.

Continued low oil prices have put pressure on the public sector to cut jobs with foreigners the obvious target.

The government believes the job cuts will reduce capital outflows and create new positions for the some 700,000 Saudis looking for work.

This should also limit the impact of a streamlined government on nationals.

Around 66 percent of Saudis currently work for the government and Riyadh wants to see this figure cut to 50 percent by 2020.

Riyadh also announced on Wednesday that surgeries would not be able to hire any foreign dentists to make way for Saudis.https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/n...f&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral

. . . . .
I don't see it a bad move because the first right is for the Nationas of that land to work in better positios what left should be given to foreignes

Predviously there was shortages for skilled workers labourers doctors engineer s to all gulf nation but since 2000 the focus of gulf states on education made them to take this step now they have few doctors engineering lot coming and they want to give them a job which is fair

It is the job of govt of Pak ind and Bangladesh to create opportunities for job which they are not but if this happens more Pak will be back and govt if Pak will have more pressure to create jobs in private sector and some how corruption will be less

But all depends if we get raheel type chief who put pressure on govt either leave or do it type

Because these politition are like vulture

This is an appropriate move since no government in the world has expats in it, only if they are from other origins and hold the nation's citizenship.. So it is an appropriate move..

This is another important move to encourage Saudis to go into business or services industries and so on..

unless the rich but lazy Saudis find alternative to oil in next 30 years they will become a starving beggar country by 2050.

Other than oil they have nothing else to offr in a nation that is hot and full of desert .

No science skill or engineering base and very little business sense to start industry up.

THEY HABVE TO DO SOMETHING SOON

.
will never happen, how can you ask lazy folk do the hard work:-)? O they will import some syrians and problem will be solved.

.
KSA people are lazy. If they do it it is great. Let them stand up and do work like everyone else. There is no shame is hard day's work.

I spend hours daily running a tractor and planting etc together with my workforce at the farm. Hard work makes you a good person spiritually.

Don't worry the Saudi regime will collapse soon. They cannot even handle the valiant resistance of our Yemeni Muslim brothers. If the Yemeni fighters continue to advance into Najran and head straight for the liberation of Mecca and Medina; simultaneously the Shi'ites launch an armed uprising in the Eastern Province, in sha Allah the repressive Saudi regime will immediately collapse. Soon our Imam Mahdi عليه السلام will emerge from Medina and put an end to the un-Islamic rule throughout the Middle East.
Including iran and wiping off imposter followers of mitza ghalib too

.
Most of these jobs will just be cut completely. The public sector is too bloated for the country.

Labor brings character and a better mind. You're probably some of the few guys who can fix a sink and remodel a kitchen.

.
Saudi will not work in construction field and also in workshops. Saudi will **** their country as they just love to smoke and drinking coffee on job time. They are lazy ppls on the planet.
