What's new

Russians are working on Otokar Cobra technologies

Such factors change in accordance with costumers' requirements for example BMC Kirpi has a weight of 16000kg for perfect protection with lower mobility against various threats but Cobra is really special armoured vehicles with many variants regarding protection level, sharp V shape hull, mobility in its class. That's why More than 10 countries ordered and Some countries are copying Cobra at present.

Take a look that hull shape.

But that doesn't mean other countries copying Cobra. Take a look at BPM-97 a more comparable to Cobra.

What ALL forgets is that:

During Russia-Georgia War 2008;

1. Georgian Army defeated Russian Army in the first moments of the war and Georgian Army entered the capital city Tskhinvali of South Ossetia and COMPLETELY controlled it. Russian Army was protecting the Capital against Georgian army.

Result: Georgian OTOKAR COBRAs defeated Russian BMPs and old tanks.

2. Later, Russia had bring its AIR FORCE and modern battle tanks to the war arena. And only then, Russia defeated Georgia.
(Georgia must not have taken Russia as enemy when without enough air force!)

3. Russia-Georgia War 2008 showed Russia's weakness: Russia used very big planes (as big as normal passenger planes) to get intelligence of the Georgian Army positions. Because: RUSSIA HAD NOT GOT any UAV in 2008 that can be used in war arena.

4. Russia's military electronic industry is NOT as developed as the US:

US prohibited some of the electronics ("analog-digital converters, static random memory chips, micro control devices and micro processors") to be taken out of the US.

US's FBI catched Russian agents in US in 2012:

Arc Electronics in Texas-Houston in US that belongs to Russians tried to send export-prohibited electronics to Russia and got catched.

The owner of Arc Electronics (Alexandır Fishenko and 10 Russian-originated US citizen) taken into custody.

5. Vice President of Russia (Dimitry Rogozin): (in September 2012):
"The foreign electronic parts that are used in Russian Defence Indıstry must be produced in Russia"

6. Russia STILL cannot produce "analog-digital converters, static random memory chips, micro control devices and micro processors" that are used in military.

7. Turkey captured Russia's current RADAR TECHNOLOGY via the civil passenger plane that was FORCED to land down to Ankara by Turkey's four F-16 fighter jets during Syrian Civil War. (Russia was trying to help Dictator Assad by sending military equipment in civil planes!)

Result: Georgian OTOKAR COBRAs defeated Russian BMPs and old tanks.
After that I couldn't read :suicide2:

Who was protecting the capital city Tskhinvali of South Ossetia of Russia: RUSSIA's ARMY with its battle tanks and many soldiers.

What happened later: GEORGIA's Army ENTERED the Tskhinvali of South Ossetia protected by Russia's Army.

How did that happen?
RUSSIA's ARMY welcomed and delivered the city to the GEORGIA's Army peacefully
or
RUSSIA ARMY DEFEATED BY GEORGIA's ARMY during Tskhinvali war?

The latter of course.

Only after Russia brought its Air Force to War Arena, and its modern battle tanks to the Arena (from
"Kazbegi-Verhni Lars passage" (Daryal passage in Russian language), Russia controlled and dominated the Georgia's army and defeated it.

This is amazing, i want to congrat otocar engineers.

First at the picture with markings numbered by 23 to 27:

Considering the impact markings(like smoke marks near the impact points.) i am nearly sure those are high caliber and heavy bullets. Those bulets probably have high kinetic energy and they couldnt penetate the vehicle.

At the left rear of vehicle those smoke marks indicates most of the kinetic energy of bullets is refracted. Those smokey marks tell us particles from hot outer surface of bullet is seperated from bullet itself. This happens when bullet loses most of its kinetic energy and speed. This means armor and its geometry is very durable agains bullets used here.

About explotion or what else happened there, vehicle inside is in very good shape. I think soldiers survied this incident. Doors seems opened without any problem, this is good. You dont want to be trapped in a highly damaged vehicle in combat area.

Glass surface is broken but it seems interior surface is ok, may be we can say bullet did not penetrate the glass. (Those windows are designed to be broken from outside to absorb bullet energy so it can not penetrate.)

Considering this is not a heavy armored combat vehicle, my opinion cobra did its job as it would.
It endured high caliber bullets, explosion did not affect interior structure, escape conditions are present.

Good work otocar.

By the way; wheels are ok. This vehicle can be repaired in a short time and could be usable again.
great explanation. Most of these vehicles were left by Georgian army as they afraid of Russian aircrafts. EVen Georgian army says that it was the best technology for Georgians in the war time

russia is even getting their ships from france so what the hell you on , all they have is a large stockpile of nukes , which as murat bayar said is to kill innocent civilians and commit genocide ( this in my opinion is to all nucleur nations )
i definitely agree with you. Russian technology is too old. just to compare, Turkish howitzers can shoot pin-point, such as getting coordinates from UAV and shot it down, but with Russian technology, you just wish..

^ Bro, you do realise that you are posting in a thread that has been dead for the past 2 years? :big_boss:

the latest Russia Georgia war, as you can see from the letters in the car!

why did we even bother giving this to Georgia. now they probably know anything about it!

It is not something top secret or something Russians didn't already knew. Maybe they're just examining the damage received on the armored vehicles.

I dont think Russia is backward by any standard. Russia might not be making as diverse weapons as US, but it builds almost all its weapons and develops most of its technologies.

As for Russian recently buying weapons from France, dont forget US also buys defense systems from other countries like UK and Israel.

The most siginificant technologies that US uses and not developed in US are - Harrier & Goshawk (based on BAe Hawk) from UK, JHMCS (derived from Elbit Systems technology), LANTRIN and Popeye cruise missile from Israel.

@airmarshal
Russia has figured that they CAN'T build an LHD comperable to French Mistral. Not with the infrastructure they have. Meanwhile all of the military equipment that US imports, they build more advanced versions of already. Sniper, SLAM-ER, F35B, nevermind the VSI HMDS :)

They say Russia will modenize black sea fleet by building six more submarines (they have two). And Turkey has 14 Type 209s which are very young and Type214s on the way. They will never be able to change the balance of power in black sea.

Turkey reigns supreme

Why Russia needs Blacksea fleet? With Armenia we share a border with Turkey. Russian Ground Forces can easily march towards Anatolia and seize all of south east turkey.

Turkey should concentrate on its defence on Armenia Border, because Russian Forces can always use Armenian Soil to march trough it. ARMENIA is Russian ally.

DUde you are soo funny. You have no clue how strong Turkish ground forces!! Your Russian Generals knows it better than you. All Russian army is based on Soviet technology, and you have to spend billions just to modernize it to keep working. But, thats why, they dont invest in development projects.

And Turkey will wait for the Russians to fly over their complete military that is needed for an invasion through Armenia? :) i believe Turkey will and should strike Armenia when a portion of the Russian forces arrive there, Azerbaijian will join and Georgia must take a side, i believe Turkish side. Turkey should and probably will take this battle to the caucasus. There is no way your strategy will work in these conditions

You make it sound too easy. Turkey is simply not a country you guys can easily wipe out in short term and maybe medium term without any consequences that you have not seen yet so far. Long term we will fall, if one on one, i'll give you that. Your head is probably somewhere in the sky after your victories in Georgia and Crimea (against very poor, small, instabile, weak countries that have no/little geopolitical significance), but wake up and be objective, not arrogant :)
