What's new

Russian progress in Donbas is faster than American progress in Iraq and Syria

America is China's enemy. China will never allow America to become bigger. Nukes would be used if America invades Canada.

LOL. When did USA ask for permission from China as to how big it can be? :D

How does Russia rely on Western technology and knowhow to explore and operate its oil and gas fields?
Even Iran does not "depend" on Western technology anymore, let alone Russia.
And you are overlooking the fact that Russia and China are now more powerful than ever.

You do realize that Russia and Iran together hold over two thirds of the world's gas reserves. Right?
You do realize that Russia and its central Asian allies like Kazakhstan together hold nearly 2 million tonnes of the world's uranium reserves?
You do realize that Russia, Iran and Venezuela are major holders of the world's oil reserves. Right?

Besides that, Russia also has the world's largest share of fresh water reserves, or at least in top 3.
Russian economy will not collapse like you want to think. Energy is becoming a luxury good in many European countries as we speak. If you think it's going to be one-sided against Russia, you can't be more wrong.
Russia drills oil in Sibiria and the arctic in declining fields that require mainly american technology from oil service companies like Halliburton, Baker Hughes etc. Russia has no means to replace the service of these companies leading to a inevitable decline in production of russian oil, and increasing expenses to explore and drill new wells and infrastructure to uphold previous production. Its a lost battle in this part of the world.
Regarding gas, Russia doesnt have the infrastructure to divert the gas away from Europe, and Russia relies on foreign technology to prosper in LNG, mainly french and south korean.
So yes, Russia may hold a great deal of the known gas and oil reserves, but its worthless without investors and consumers, which is the result of Russias invasion of Ukraine.

This is the part that fact checking starts. Now you have to back your claim that Russia relies on foreign technology to drill in Siberia or "propser" in LNG. I mean if Iran can do it, why can't Russia?
And could you explain what you mean by "Russia does not have the infrastructure to divert the gas away from Europe"?

Some have warned against Russia for decades, but they were ignored or made fun of. This has completely changed now.

'Now' is too late though, Russia caught Europe unware and that was part of their strategy. Nothing beats sudden invasion of an unprepared opponent.

Yet Russia is losing. Isn't it funny? Russians have become laughing stock of the world.

I have no horse in the race, but I don't see how they are losing.

These are Official Russian numbers. Just multiply by 10 for actual losses.

Russia lost 34,230 military personnel. In addition, the Russian army has lost 1,496 tanks, 3,614 armored vehicles, 752 artillery systems, 239 rocket launchers, 99 air defense systems, 216 aircraft, 182 helicopters, 614 UAVs, 137 cruise missiles, 14 ships/boats, 2,543 vehicles/fuel trucks, 60 special equipment. According to data, the Russian army is experiencing great problems in terms of equipment. In addition, many Russian soldiers have begun to fear the loss of personnel and are afraid to fight.

Russia is not losing. Ukraine is getting pounded right now.

NATO will have Russia for an evening snack.
Imagine needing 30 countries to confront a single country... If I was Russian I would feel immense pride that my country is so powerful.

Matters not as long as objective is achieved.

Russias private oil companies have been buying these services, like most other oil companies - horisontal drilling, imaging software for guidance - technologies meant to increase the output of an oil field. If not, you basically just drill a vertical hole in the ground and pump till its dry.
Russias oil extraction factor is 28 %, while its western peers is 40-50 %, as it has been affected by some sanctions since 2014. Look up enhanced recovery techniques.

Russia LNG

You want me to explain that Russia mainly rely on pipelines for its gas export? Not exactly going towards the east an south.

It's always the Russian strategy to accomplish something economically with fewer resources in hand. Reliability, affordability matters to Russians.
The results can be seen in Ukraine.

Matters not as long as objective is achieved.
Dude even those statistics are as fake as the tits of Kim Kardashian. Nothing that comes from the US can be trusted.
