With all due respect to GCC and Arabs in general, they are becoming a liability to Pakistan if we keep them as the only source of our energy requirement. They are firmly entangled in the web yanks wove around them for decades and now they cant get out. And with Pakistan-America relations going south with each passing day, we need to start seriously considering our dependence on ME energy and also our expats. This may all become a huge liability in future not too distant away.

With Russia and Iran in neighborhood Pakistan logically does not need to rely on middle east however there is important game of economics in play here. Middle east is large destination for Pakistani exports and manpower, in return the proceeds are invested in purchase of energy - also easy credit lines are available from GCC particularly Saudi Arabia. Trade is a two way game. To purchase oil from Russia, the Russian side will also have to open market for Pakistani exports.

Qatar has recently announced another demand for 100K Pakistani workers..
Comparatively there is no labor market for Pakistanis in Iran and Russia.

Pakistan has already been discussing oil and gas imports from Central Asian states including Azerbaijan in a bid to diversify its energy sources as it has overly banked on oil-rich Middle Eastern countries for decades.

This is a strategic move, Pakistan know Arabs are now fully laying on US and Israeli feet so its time to move away from Arab oil.

So here is something about oil I have always wondered - why is oil and other hydrocarbons the only source of fuel? What if a great country, example like China, plays a master stroke of historic proportions and invents a new "energy source"? With this one master stoke, this country can check mate all the outdated and Barbaric systems of energy, and TRULY FREES itself from all the BS and nonsense of this imposed system of energy.
