Just curious, what is wrong with Saudi Arab and Russia apart from American angle.

let me try to explain in short....

assad the president , belong to the minorities sect called alwati , this sect also has control in security forces.....
rest more then 85% polulation is sunni and kurdis.....
this was the begining of the conflict , protests was mainly peacefull in begining...

then comes the US angle , assad openly oppose US policies in iraq....he oppose the turky pipeline project which directly affects commercial intrests of turky.....

CIA start funding the rebles and gradually the political peacfull protest inside syria turn into armed conflict and mass voilation of human right from both sides....initially armed rebles wre the defection groups from syrian army but they are now overtaken by jihadies of IS....

now presently different parties involved in syria has their own angle of intrest....

russia : pro-assad stand , due to militery alliance....
turky: anti-assad due to commercial angle...
arab : anti-assad because assad is a sunni suppresser for them..
US/isreal/west : they want assad to step down for various geographical , commercial and security reasons...


i hope i summed up the syrian confilt to best of my understanding ....

rest there are more informed members out here to enlighten us more on the issue...

I believe Saudis were the main financiers of the struggle against Soviets in Afghanistan.

Their support of the Mujahideendusing the afghan war was more of a quid pro quo owing to the fact that the US was providing security to KSA in a volatile region that the USSR had its eyes on, Iraq and Iran being pro USSR probaby aggravated the issue even more. The US wanted plausible deniability so it used the Saudis to funnel money to the struggle.
The entire mess was a political one instead of the religious masquerade it is so often given.

Hahahaha next to this report on top left chu**ya standard has broke this news as pro-Saudi leaking it and on top left they posted news of Saudi Arabia and Russia doing an oil pact, this is the problem with indian sourced newspapers, I've requested before to plz verify indian sourced crap with Reuters & AP. Thre is no accountability or credibility to this corporate driven BS there specially with regards to Pakistan. The source says ANI Islamabad, Pakistan rofl. This is their standard. Have people forgotten russia Pak joint military drill called off or the Uri commando operation 2 months back by same source?

VERY TRUE. Anything from an indian source needs to be discarded immediately. Especially if it involves Pakistan. indian media has been proven to be the biggest propaganda machine in the world. Which spouts nothing but extreme lies, inaccuracies and false sensationalist rubbish.

Pakistan must stay away from Syrian conflict even if 100 billion dollars were offered by Saudi Arabia or Russia.

We do not want to paricipate in somebody else's war and the Civil War in Syria is getting dirty and inhuman by every passing day.

POTM!!!!!!!!!!!........Although I agree that we should have cordial relations with all nations on Earth, we must be wary that there are MANY external sources that want to involve Pakistan in the Syrian and Yemen conflict. We NEED TO be completely neutral and stay WELL clear if this.

Well I think position of pakistan is really good as Pakistan said that people of Syria hv to decide future of country and for this Pakistan supports free elections in Syria . This is a neutral and good position of Pakistan.

there are news reports clearly stating that pakistan is sanding troops to support assad in syria , former isreal defence minister already mention it in her statement ....
this world is taking a new shape , new order and everyone is realliaining , after US changeg its position on pakistan , probably pakistan has left with no other choice to move to russian camp .....in the procces they might face problem with arabs but may win russia & iran...

Russia has waited a long time to establish relations with Pakistan

It's been a rough few decades and Russia knows Pakistan is not going anywhere so better to keep good ties

For Pakistan lots of benifits most of them are obvious

Problem is Saudi almost went to war in start of this year against Assad in Syria they sent aircraft to Turkey and ALOT of armour was immobilised close to western border

Turkey was also getting very aggressive with CAP missions

Then if you remember Russia and Putin declared "mission accomplished " to ease tensions and force turkey and Saudi to lose their appetite to go to war

Both Saudi and Turkey are long standing brother nations of Pakistan and they don't need introduction

So this makes Russia-Pakistan relationship a tough call

If Russia wants Pakistan support in Syria they can forget it never going to happen Pakistan historically never gets involved in Muslim vs Muslim conflict just look at Yemen , so many requests from Arab allies nothing from Pakistan

It is clear that we are not going into Syria at all. The Russian call to Pakistan was made for a diplomatic influence. We are aware that Pakistan has good relations as well as an influential say in Muslim world that almost every Islamic Country do respect and listens to Pakistan. IMO, may be Russia was here not just to have the backing of Pakistan on diplomatic front for influence the main players in Syria but it was also about Afghanistan.

On one side, (based upon a good offer) Russia can use Pakistan channel to calm down the Syrian situation and who knows that the same could have been like giving a time to Assad for safe exit but there is no chance or close to zero possibility that we are ever going to land in Syria at all. Talking about Syria subject w.r.t. Pakistan and Russian asking for the relation, it is evident that the same would involve Pakistan on diplomatic front.

Also, we should not forget that ISIS is reportedly gaining ground in Afghanistan too, which is not just harmful for us but the Russia and rest of the region as well. Pakistan has gained high experience through WOT and it is not just about eliminating the threat but we have gathered/learnt good Intel Info w.r.t. these terrorist working style and approach, therefore, Russia & Pakistan can work together to counter such growing threat in Afghanistan by Intel Sharing, effectively.

The leak is most probably by the same lobby or can do which is more of tilted towards KSA and who knows it would have been done on behest of ruling party wish to please the masters which is indirectly linked to D.C. that we should not forget the real end of channel. We cannot ignore the D.C influence in such leaks which is about after all, the US stance against Russia that cannot afford Pakistan's relations with Moscow. It seems like US feels like hammered after Pakistan-Russia growing relations whereby, D.C. was almost happy to gain an edge against China-Russia after signing LEMOA with India.

So a lot of factors are into play and hopefully, we wouldn't be shooting in dark but the cards would be played wisely and smartly. IMO, we have to keep in mind about our old friends, brothers and new relations as well by moving ahead with almost balanced foreign strategy. (Speaking of foreign diplomacy, I am not sure that current breed in Pakistan can do such but still there are hopes due to some other offices that can see the nation interest first than power greedy rulers only).

I am really amazed that you know our DM more than us that too from PMLn. Oh, India is so much interested for the same to be true however, none paid any heed to fake Israeli Statement nor takes seriously PMLn DM that his master is more of concerned with personal business in & KSA & India than Pakistan and neither buy such fake news which is more of concern to India than Syria, Pakistan, Israel or any related party.
