I believe not. EU is a pure Christian Club. Turkey will update Custom Union Agreement with EU in January 2017. That means complete free trade and also participating in EU members Government Investment Projects. Together with VISA free travel it will be enough.

Turkey will sign 2017 a free trade agreement with Russia and increase annual bilateral trade to 100 Bio. USD.

No surprise about this news, Russia was already in Syria for a while now, nothing new in this news. It never bothered western powers though, since Syria is irrelevant for us anyway, never had any real interests there, plus it doesn't even have oil.

As I said earlier, Putin has been gambling big time. Mobilizing 40 million Russian citizens for a military showdown is part of that bluff. In a poker game if you can convince your adversary that you have the aces you win the game and this is exactly what the Russians have been doing. They are telling the US that they are ready to start WW-III for a thug like assad, now the ball is in the US court.

Markus. It is not important what it will gain to you. There are agreements between the EU and Turkey. The Customs Union which will be updated in Januar 2017 is a win win for all parties. Visa Free Travel is a part of it.

it is important when it is against our interests. We both know it wont happen. That entire process is dead. Did you see recent polls? a absolute majority 78% of europeans is against it. The EU does evrything to let it silently die. its a security risk for us.

millions of kurds could try escape to europe. how would turkey prevent this?
