It's the safe option offered these days to those not just in Germany but across western and central Europe, whose general political orientation is tending rather heavily to the right.
Naturally it wasn't lost on such individuals that the traditional hostility of western far right movements towards Jews and Judaism has been a risky affair to uphold since 1945, given things such as Holocaust denial laws, the political weight of zionist lobbies, the close alliance of EU regimes with Tel Aviv, the dominant political discourse and norms. In short, any semblance of Judeophobic activism anywhere in western and central Europe instantly equals judicial prosecution and/or lasting social exclusion.
Enter the post-9/11 era and Isra"el"'s renewed drive for recruiting the western far right for its purposes - similar to the 1950's during the Suez crisis, to when Mossad offered a contract to former Waffen-SS commander Otto Skorzeny etc. In the USA the neo-conservatives fulfilled that role, in Europe a whole bunch of radical groups e.g. EDL in the UK, Pegida in Germany, you name it.
These people were given an official green light by the powers to be, that they may pursue their militancy in a more or less unhindered manner under the condition that they would swap Jews for Moslems, Judaism for Islam as their main perceived enemy (Feindbild). Suddenly the focus of anti-immigrant discourse in western Europe shifted largely from non-western ethnicity to the Islamic religion and its followers. With Isra"el" being marketed as a natural "ally" standing in a "common front" for the defence of "Judeo-Christian civilization" against the invading, terrorist, barbaric "Mahometan hordes".
However, Jews have figured prominently among European elites at the forefront of immigrationist politics and advocacy of the so-called multi-cultural model of society. So to lift the contradiction and make zionism more readily acceptable to their new far right clients despite the role of Jewish figures in fostering immigration over the decades, zionist planners came up with a custom-tailored political archetype, that of the right-wing zionist character - publicist, intellectual, opinion leader etc, acting as an uber-nationalist for European nations, preferably of Jewish descent and often more Catholic than the Pope so to say, who will take aim both at his left-wing immigrationist co-religionists subsumed with the left in general, but more importantly with Moslem migrants and Islam, all the while of promoting Tel Aviv's occupation of Palestine and the wars instigated by NATO regimes in the Moslem world. France's Eric Zemmour for instance can be cited as a perfect illustration of an element fulfilling the described function.
Thus was born contemporary European national-zionism, fueled by the controversies surrounding "I"SIS terror attacks, immigration et al. And it immediately set out to attract nationalists and right wingers who prefer to play it safe by beating up on the Moslem and portraying the latter as the paramount existential threat to the west, with full backing from powerful players above. To those who need to experience a little "moment of glory" this is the more secure avenue, as compared to landing in jail for Holocaust denial or, third option, taking on frontally the actual liberal and globalist (read anti-national) power structures as well as their major constitutive components (capitalist oligarchy, zionist lobbies, masonic secret society).
On a side note, eastern Europe and Ukraine in particular were managed in a slightly different manner by the said powers. Here, continued tolerance for neo-Nazism is deliberate because of how it lends itself to weaponization against Russia. Even much of its Judeophobic dimension continues to be accepted at the rhetoric level, so long as these groups reserve their actual violence for Russians and do not bother if their country's president is Jewish.
