Russia to use Pakistan's footballs in 2018 world cup

This man left the scene with a group of people urging him to leave and in the video the tank was trying to avoid him. I have said that "though sometimes its unavoidable" regarding deaths and have stated not all change is good, revolution can be damaging. The instigator of the violence was some protesters when they lynched a soldier, the authorities tried to be restraint but that was going too far. The core interests of a nation surpasses individuals, but it is important to not see every problem as a nail and your only tool is a hammer. This is only an underlying logic, every Chinese leader understood this but its tool box was severely limited. Nowadays, they implement much more soft and precise measures.

Now this is a statement I would agree with and slow change is what is needed because revolutions always leave their scars.

This is the third thread i saw today on "Russia wants Pakistani footballs"...very childish
Russia cannot decide what football but only FIFA can and FIFA does
You can always choose not to visit these threads. That power still remains with you.

After reading all these wise people have grown up talk.
I am talking as a layman or a common observer that is in love with its coubtry.
One thing we all have to believe is the current system /model has never performed nor is it ever going to be.
We need change as a society in our thinking. Our thinking is really expired and backward.
First we need to realize that something is wrong only then we can move forward.
This feaudral system is the same thing as British raj. Bunch of rich people control each and everything and above all law. They control all the lands and make people work for them. They exploit the religious lines, (look how many gaddi nasheens are there in Pakistan) ...
We need a leadership who thinks this things.
Who think about reforning the society by taking the steps now.
We as a nation would always hate the words 'secular'and 'liberal' and 'modern'.
Let's face it. Even if we are the most secular person we still won't accept it.
We need a more secular society where both men and women can work together to develop their country.
Religious god's spread everywhere who distributes certificates of who is good Muslim or bad Muslim must be destroyed.
We need proper reforms of Madrassas, only government approved course should be taught at Madrassas and even mosque.
The mosque should also. Only issue government specified lectures.
Develop unity, and end religious intolerance and sectarian hate.
One could talk about religion but culture. Even I don't go there. Somehow culture in Muslims is more important then religion.
But as a country progress culture is generalized. For example 20 years ago. You found no one in swat speaking Urdu, now everyone does.
We need a leadership that would think about the future, the basic necessities such as water, clean and cheap energy, education and skill, agriculture, and start investing it now. Provide avenues and people would be the force bringing the change.
But the feaudral system we have is that a common person in sindh or Punjab cannot own fertile piece of land . Their childern cannot go to study, the only option is to serve their feaudral lords ...
Abolish case system and assign surnames. Every one should adopt a new surname tgat cannot be tgeir cast. This cast system we adopted from Hindus is just the source of hatred.

Pakistan has to shun the thought that they are better then others. The villagers think we are better the city people. City people think we are better then village people. Similarly people living together think one is better then other. Different cast thinks they are better the other, different ethnicities then they are better. As a nation we think we are better then all.
This has to stop. We are only better if we hard work and prove ourselves otherwise we are not.
People need to accept New ways of living. Adopt New technologies. Not always in fear of new ways of doing things.
Our people fear change. This is very important factor in our backwardness.
People take a second to form opinions.
Their opinion once lost is lost for ever.
Media can help in this regard.
Only a good honest sincere leadership can think and perform these changes in society which would really have a very positive impact in our society.
We need a pakistani type of turkish revolution but with people religion and culture protected.
In present lot i don't see anyone , I leader that is able to understand the problem and start solving it.
There are many Pakistanis who own billions of money but only invest in housing societies and no industrial investment.
Half of them really don't know where or how to invest. A good government can really use these people. A good government can make our population and asset.
There is a little hope in imran khan.
Mind you it is a long process. But I think he would try to make institutions independent. . That would be a good start.

.
China can become a catalyst and the compounds are entirely Pakistani, China will realign national focus.
This is what excites me. Transformation of a backward, fossilized culture that has for last two centuries proven to be singularly incapable of facing challanges. We become enslaved and remained so for 98 years. Now for 70 years as a independent country Pakistan still struggles with some of the worse development indices in the world besides being world famous for terrorism, chaos, lawlessness and geneal all round horror story. At heart of it is the failed way of thinking that only facilitated our express service to slavery. Yet instead of introspection and change we have gone even more retrogressive by becoming insular and dreaming of applying the failed recipe even more earnestly. The nation is obssesed with saving Islam and or being the custodian when it can't even ear enough to pay itself and has to gewt doleouts from US or IMF at regular intervals.

I agree that change has to be actualized from the inside however Pakistan is not a "maker" but rather is "moulded" by others. The two biggest influences post 1947 on Pakistan have been America and Saudia Arabia. Both have helped Pakistan to cultivate right wing extremist religiuous forces that suited bith for their own geo-strategic interests. Prior to 1947 the primary influence had been the British through their colonial rule who left behind institutional structures that form the nasis of the Pakistani state that the Chinese can deal with for instance the military. Sans British influence Pakistan might have been something like Afghanistan. Entirely tribal, entirely religious hellhole, entirely conflicted and without any functioning institutions.

Therefore I expect as Chinese economic shadow gets larger over Pakistan that it will impose it's own set of requirements which would involve dismantling, muzzling, reforming the present culture and retrogressive forces ushering in a more open, dynamic and adaptable society or what some like to reduce to "mini-skirt" society. I refuse to accept that economic progress can be divorced from social/cultural change. You can't nurse medieval thinking and develop a modern economic powerhouse.

It is with some satisfaction that I read that even now at the nascent stage of the CPEC China has begin to "finesse" Pakistan toward a more progressive path. I read this in another thread -

“Pakistan needs to carry out deep reforms in several areas, amend laws and frame corresponding policies, it said, adding Pakistani government needs to free its mind. It should recognize that industrial growth has its own laws,” it said.

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/china-asks-for-one-window-operation-for-cpec-projects.542535/

I do hope that as we move forward industrial growth and requirements of fitting within the wider Sinosphere Pakistan will begin tio undo some the of the terrible influences it picked up over the last few decades and we see a new modern Pakistan like Turkey that proves it is possible for a Muslim country to pull otself out of depths of poverty and ignorence.

Yeah but you get the point that Pakistani handcraft is widely appreciated and trusted at world center stage.

Englishs not our first language. Lighten up a lil ok....

The Chinese economic model is part and parcel of wider political/economic and cultural sphere. It is product of the efforts and thoughts of the CCP. It is not informed by Islamic values by long shot. There is synergy between the Chinese economic model and other aspects of their society.

And please read @Cybernetics post at #15

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/russ...balls-in-2018-world-cup.542505/#post-10222019
The Chinese model is also recognised as iteration of the "East Asian model". It does have some synergies with a broader cultural sphere. Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and China share the commonality of Confucianism. It's not strict Confucianism but some of its values are embedded in society. Nobody nowadays take it as a religion, it was reformed many times throughout history.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confucianism

East Asian model:
  • High savings rate. Most developing countries hit a barrier and is unable to go beyond it due to low savings, an external crisis is bound to happen but the difference is how each is able to cope with it. During the Asian financial crisis, money was short and countries had to deleverage, same with South Korea but they were able to tap into the savings of its citizens to stabilize their economy. https://www.forbes.com/sites/greats...de-to-the-rescue-of-south-korea/#d6d5aa833d33
  • High education standards. Only highly educated people can produce higher value chains and will provide the necessary foundation for upgrading when the offshoring occurs.
  • Support of "national champions" with incentives and beneficial policies. They can be private or state companies. It means the society supporting a few big companies, and necessitates some collusion between business and state. Complacency of these companies are mitigated by export orientation.
  • Export orientation.
Religion (in conventional thinking) is not part of this framework of thinking, it can be there or it not but focus on the above points are essential. One can still have a different culture and religion with this framework, I don't think its entirely hindering that. Though some points have a cultural uniqueness like support of "national champions". This requires certain (not absolute) level of trust for the state and of each other (more than in other countries), which is common in Confucian countries. Distrust of a broader institution lowers long term competitiveness, as it fragments society and companies into smaller units and why American companies (due to scale of America) are able to dominate much of the world market yet East Asian countries are able to come up with their own internationally competitive ones. Many East Asian countries are just big enough population wise to achieve this. The sense of trust stems of the teaching of benevolence, role of a "father figure", and Junzi in Confucianism. Many Chinese members have complained that the notion of benevolence is too deeply embedded in Chinese society, and sometimes makes China look weak internationally but this is a sort of glue that holds many of these concepts together. I'm sure one can build a similar framework through the lens of Islam.

"The this-worldly concern of Confucianism rests on the belief that human beings are fundamentally good, and teachable, improvable, and perfectible through personal and communal endeavor especially self-cultivation and self-creation. Confucian thought focuses on the cultivation of virtue and maintenance of ethics. Some of the basic Confucian ethical concepts and practices include rén, yì, and lǐ, and zhì. Rén (仁, "benevolence" or "humaneness") is the essence of the human being which manifests as compassion. It is the virtue-form of Heaven. Yì (義/义) is the upholding of righteousness and the moral disposition to do good. Lǐ (禮/礼) is a system of ritual norms and propriety that determines how a person should properly act in everyday life according to the law of Heaven. Zhì (智) is the ability to see what is right and fair, or the converse, in the behaviors exhibited by others. Confucianism holds one in contempt, either passively or actively, for failure to uphold the cardinal moral values of rén and yì."

This is why East Asians trust a Confucian state and a non-confucian state would likely be overthrown in the long run. People don't care what its called but its values are accepted. There is not strict application of Conficianism but over the long Chinese history, application of many of its values are deemed successful thus people who exemplify those qualities are respected and promoted in society. Many people in these societies don't abide by any of these teachings but they still expect the state to value it.

”Confucius has no interest in falsehood; he did not pretend to be prophet; he claimed no inspiration; he taught no new religion; he used no delusions; flattered not the emperor under whom he lived...”— Voltaire

"On Islamic thought
From the late 17th century onwards a whole body of literature known as the Han Kitab developed amongst the Hui Muslims of China who infused Islamic thought with Confucianism. Especially the works of Liu Zhi such as Tiānfāng Diǎnlǐ(天方典禮)sought to harmonise Islam with not only Confucianism but also with Daoism and is considered to be one of the crowning achievements of the Chinese Islamic culture."

"The Han Kitab was widely read and approved of by later Chinese Muslims such as Ma Qixi, Ma Fuxiang, and Hu Songshan. They believed that Islam could be understood through Confucianism"

Junzi
The junzi (Chinese: 君子, jūnzǐ, "lord's son") is a Chinese philosophical term often translated as "gentleman" or "superior person" and employed by Confucius in his works to describe the ideal man. In the I Ching it is used by the Duke of Wen.

In Confucianism, the sage or wise is the ideal personality; however, it is very hard to become one of them. Confucius created the model of junzi, gentleman, which may be achieved by any individual. Later, Zhu Xi defined junzi as second only to the sage. There are many characteristics of the junzi: he may live in poverty, he does more and speaks less, he is loyal, obedient and knowledgeable. The junzi disciplines himself. Ren is fundamental to become a junzi.

As the potential leader of a nation, a son of the ruler is raised to have a superior ethical and moral position while gaining inner peace through his virtue. To Confucius, the junzi sustained the functions of government and social stratification through his ethical values. Despite its literal meaning, any righteous man willing to improve himself may become a junzi.

On the contrary, the xiaoren (小人, xiăorén, "small or petty person") does not grasp the value of virtues and seeks only immediate gains. The petty person is egotistic and does not consider the consequences of his action in the overall scheme of things. Should the ruler be surrounded by xiaoren as opposed to junzi, his governance and his people will suffer due to their small-mindness. Examples of such xiaoren individuals may range from those who continually indulge in sensual and emotional pleasures all day to the politician who is interested merely in power and fame; neither sincerely aims for the long-term benefit of others.

The junzi enforces his rule over his subjects by acting virtuously himself. It is thought that his pure virtue would lead others to follow his example. The ultimate goal is that the government behaves much like a family, the junzi being a beacon of filial piety.

Don't lose hope for Pakistan, I don't think religion is a hindrance but understand it as an opportunity. Utilize existing institutions and frameworks to mould and improve society. China had done it throughout history, in fact Chinese culture itself is a fusion of different elements, if it is seen as successful it will be fused. The idea of fusion is deeply embedded in the Chinese consciousness.

Sadly that was my experiance. most Pakistani products are let down by terrible quality. No point in pretending. Last time I was in Pakistan even Japanese cars made in Japan had a premium over Japanese cars assembled in Pakistan.

Thanks, I will be looking at "Chinese Islam". Something for Pakistan to look at in particular how the Hui Muslims have couple progress with Islam.

MORE ON SPORT
When millions of football lovers cheer on their favourite teams at the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia this summer, Pakistanis will have a special reason to rejoice, although the 198th-ranked football nation will not be participating in the mega event.

Pakistan's famous footballs will be used in the World Cup matches, making over 200 million Pakistanis feel their presence in the event.

Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Alexey Dedov confirmed earlier in the week that his country was going to use Pakistan-made footballs for the World Cup matches.

Located on the outskirts of northeastern Sialkot city, workers at a local sports company - which is a contracting manufacturer of global sports brand Adidas - are working extra hours to ensure on-time delivery of the footballs.

The city, which borders India, has been famous for producing finest quality sports goods and has been supplying footballs for mega events for a long time.

Forward Sports, which also makes footballs for the German Bundesliga, France Ligue 1 and the Champions League, was also the official football provider of 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"This is an honour for us, that we are going to provide footballs for the world cup once again. We are very excited to meet this challenge," Khawaja Masood, the chairman of the company, told Anadolu Agency.

Refusing to give the exact numbers of footballs the company is going to supply for the World Cup alone due to restrictions from Adidas, Khawaja said his firm produced a total of 700,000 footballs a month.

The football that will be used in the upcoming tournament is technically termed as thermo bonded, which was first introduced in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Before that, Pakistan had supplied hand stitched football for almost all the World Cups from the 1990s to 2010.

Other types of footballs produced in Sialkot are glued balls and hand stitched balls.

Thermo bonded balls are made by attaching the panels through heat - the latest technology adopted by Adidas and transferred to Forward Sports in 2013.

"Although Pakistan football team will not be participating in the forthcoming World Cup, its presence will be felt in all the matches [because of the balls]," Khawaja told Anadolu Agency.

According to Husnain Cheema, president of the Pakistan Sports Goods Association, the country will export around 10 million footballs across the world this year.

Child labour allegations
Pakistan annually earns $1bn from sports goods exports, which includes $350m to $500m from footballs alone, Cheema added.

The country's thriving football industry first came under international scrutiny in the late '90s when it was accused of using children for hand-stitching footballs in some of the factories in Sialkot.

Famous sports company Nike had cancelled its orders of hand stitched football in 2006 after it was accused of promoting child labour.

However, the local manufacturers claim the child labour issue was exaggerated.

"There were complaints about child labour. Some small factories, mostly set up at homes, had employed children for hand-stitching footballs," Shaikh Jhangir Iqbal, chief executive of Silver Sports company - a contracting manufacturer of Nike - told Anadolu Agency.

"These home-based factories no longer exist now," Iqbal said adding that the international labour rights groups had been monitoring Sialkot's sports goods industry.

"There has been no major complaint vis-a-vis use of child labour [in sports industry] since 2006," he said.

Value addition
Local manufacturers observe that the country’s sports goods industry has a potential to triple the existing earnings from exports.

"We are going to introduce football kits and other accessories apart from exporting footballs," Ijaz Khokhar, head of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, told Anadolu Agency.

He said his association had a plan to set up a technical training institute in Sialkot to create trained manpower for production of other accessories, which could earn much more for Pakistan compared with exports of footballs and other sports goods.

"Huge football production business is being transferred from China to Pakistan because of the quality we are providing to the world," Khokhar said, adding that Pakistan had to makes use of this opportunity.

Iqbal defended Khokhar's view saying China was producing machine-stitched footballs, which were only used as "toys".

"These footballs cannot be used in professional matches. Our quality standards are way better than China's football production," he said.

This is only an underlying logic, every Chinese leader understood this but its tool box was severely limited. Nowadays, they implement much more soft and precise measures.

Yes, a big one is trade. Pakistan is an integral part of the future trade plan and might be home to a future currency trade hub. This will tie in some aspects of military industry. Too many aspects to talk about but the earlier Pakistan negotiates with China the bigger share it has as this is not a solidified organisation (some not even existing on paper, the foundations are being built), in the future the pie will be split more amongst other members. Negotiation is not just about talking, it is helping the process of forming these institutions. Founding members always gets a premium for the risk and effort they took.

There must be better awareness among people about long term national goals and plans. In China people are encouraged (if they are civil servants they must study it) to read national agendas because it includes a broad range of interest groups. Students even write some essays about it for class work. It makes everyone feel their small personal goals are working towards a bigger national goal, often indirectly. This builds self worth and a clear vision.

FIFA WorldCup 2018: Pakistan provides millions of Most High Tech Footballs in World

adidas-2018-fifa-world-cup-match-ball-01.jpg

FIFA will use sensor-equipped footballs in the upcoming world cup that have been manufactured in Pakistan.

The biggest footballing event that keeps people at the edge of their seats is going to be a technological marvel. As we reported earlier, the official match balls for this world cup have been manufactured in Pakistan. What makes these balls different from the conventional ones is that technology has been used to revolutionize how the game is played.

The footballs will be equipped with sensor chips with Near Field Communication (NFC) tech that will be connected to a smartphone. The chips don’t really need a special Adidas app to work. You just need to enable NFC on your phone and have the ultimate personalized content experience.

Telstar and the Chip

Adidas is bringing back it’s iconic Telstar ball that was Adidas’ first-ever and used in a FIFA world cup in 1970. The ball is called Telstar 18 and you already know it is manufactured in Pakistan. The ball is thermally bonded, meaning heat instead of stitches was used to patch the pieces. Telstar’s seamless surface is designed to ensure precise ball control and reduce water absorption as well.

The embedded chips will help provide the users with personalized content and interaction with the global community. Fans can also upload their videos doing challenges using the Telstar 18 as different competitions will be announced later on. It will further give its owners information about other Adidas products as well.

The technology isn’t as sophisticated as Adidas micoach Smart Ball that gives information like curl and pass speed, shot power etc. but it works just fine considering its an NFC debut match ball.

Take a look:

Pakistan and The Ball

The Telstar 18 has been manufactured by Forward Sports based in Sialkot. Sialkot is known as the hub of world-class sports equipment and for the past few decades, it has been the biggest exporter of footballs to the world. Here are some of the facts about city’s phenomenal sports culture;
  • Sialkot is one of the most industrialized cities in the world with around 126 industrial units per square kilometers.
  • These industries earn about $2 billion annually making up about 10% of the country’s total exports.
  • The industries in the city employ around 400,000 people as well.
  • World’s biggest leagues like English Premier League, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and UEFA Champions League use the same balls manufactured in Sialkot.
  • Sialkot accounts for 70% of the total demand for footballs to the world. More than 40 million footballs are exported every year from the city. The industries have enough capacity to produce 18,000 every day.
  • The city got global attention in 1982 when its footballs were used for the first-time ever in the FIFA world cup that year.
Not just footballs, the city is known to provide quality tennis, cricket, and hockey equipment as well. Furthermore, it is also home to the world’s second-best surgical instrument industry as well.
