Russia to make 3 More Talwar Class Frigates for India

For naval vessels, stealth is the wrong term anyway, because it's not like these vessels won't be detected by radar, they just reduced the RCS to a good extend to not be detected from 300Km or even more like with earlier designs. To really be a stealth vessel, it needs more than just some shapings, it must be completely designed with stealth shapings in mind like this:

Great move 9 talwars,plus 12 shivaliks all with brahmos is a serious nightmare for any enemy.Add to this 7 kolkata class destroyers,3MLU delhi class destroyers and 12 p28 Heavy corvettes and the IN surface fleet looks ready to take on anyone.

21 Multipurpose guided missile frigates,
10 guided missile destroyers.
12 ASW heavy corvette/light frigates.

And the upgraded kolkata and shivalik class may come with aegis which has been offered.
Plus 3 aircraft carriers,landing ships,tankers and other older designs gives IN surface fleet serious punch.

Yantar's building these for the Russian Navy too, and they aren't exactly good with delays..... Going elsewhere might have been a better choice.

A noob query, I read some where that Talwar class built in Russia are costlier and one notch below contemporary (feasible) concepts. I know I am nearly trolling but would like to trigger some responses from more learned posters.

Not really.Only difference is they are semi stealth designs compared to latest concepts.Armament is superb.

yes INS Chakra leased from Russia (Akulla-II) recently for 10 years also indigenous INS Arihant will join by end 2012.
