An unnamed North African country has ordered 50 MiG-29M/M2s from Russia and will receive its first two fighter jets later this year.

RAC MiG Deputy General Alexey Beskibalov was quoted as sayingby Ria Novosti that the deliveries are scheduled to complete by 2020. The payment for the jets has been made to Russia, he added.

The order is likely from Egypt as it had expressed interest in MiG-29 fighters, Mi-35 attack helicopters and other hardware in 2014. Egypt had agreed to buy 46 MiG-29s for US $2 billion.

Egypt is likely to replace its aging fleet of MiG-21s and Chinese J-7s with MiG-29s.

Holy shit... Egypt is getting ready for a world war it seems. I would love to see a list of their defence acquisitions over the last 5 years.

Around 50% Russian aircraft remain grounded because of the cumbersome maintenance issues Egyptians knowing this first hand must be factoring in.

Looks like Africans are also not going to buy JF17 since they are ordering russian jets

Do you know which are all those spares that India import from Russia? If India can license produce Sukhoi locally, wondering why cant we produce the spares!

Basically Titanium Alloys And Radar & Engine Parts , Fuel Injector Many More I cannot Discuss Here Due to Sensitiveness
We Still Lag in Jet Engine Technology Part. AL-41 Engines are Maintenance Nightmare
It Will be Improved in Future As the Technology Progress.

Best time to procure Russia weaponry as rubble sinks.
