Russia has offered to equip the Indian Su-30MKI aircraft with the electronically scanned array radar to bring them on par with the most modern fighter aircraft in the world. Currently the technical configuration of the upgraded aircraft with onboard AESA radar is being discussed by Russian and Indian experts. The upgraded aircraft could be equipped with perspective Russian or foreign-made weapon, including Indo-Russian “BrahMos” anti-ship missiles, an Irkut statement said at Aero India 2011 A multirole Su-30MKI aircraft which became a sort of symbol of the IRKUT Corporation deserves an honourable place in the exposition of the company (stand 24, hall A). Fighter developed by JSC “Sukhoi Design Bureau” on demand of the Indian Air Force are mass-manufactured at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The IRKUT Corporation delivers to India ready-made Su-30MKI fighters as well as Su-30MKI technical kits for license production by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd Corporation.

Program production of Su-30MKI for the Indian Air Force and its modifications for other countries is being developed successfully. For a number of parameters it has no equal in the entire history of Russian military-technical cooperation with foreign states. The total value of contracts approaches $9 billion. Under agreements more than 150 fighter aircraft were delivered to the Air Forces of India, Malaysia and Algeria.

The model of Yak-130 combat trainer developed by the JSC “Yakovlev Design Bureau” – a part of the Corporation is displayed at the IRKUT Corporation’s stand.

The aircraft was chosen as the main aircraft for basic and advanced training for pilots of the Russian Air Force. In 2010 the fist serially produced Yak-130 combat trainers were inducted in the Russian Air Force. The IRKUT Corporation also carries out two contracts on Yak-130 deliveries for foreign customers. Pre-contract negotiations are underway with several other potential customers.

Russia proposes equipping Indian SU-30MKI with AESA Radar : Defense news

GREAT NEWS FOR SU-30MKI

which radar will be on offer ?

and its range - because as per aesa , i think they can very well offer a decent range radar somewhere around - 200 kms.

NEED To make it a bit small on enemy radar reduce the rcs.

.
it's great news..we need AESA and i hope we go for some rcs reduction too.

.
Good it will also help as reducing the RCS,the heavy monster looks like an elephant on the radar(I have never seen a radar).

Do not worry, F-15 too have almost the same RCS and see what is its record? zero loss in all air battles. And it is western, nobody is complaining about its RCS and battle proven.

Where as Su-27 models are relatively new and only once it used in battle ans scored 2 kills against enemy fighters. If you have 5 or 15 RCS value, it is almost same when fully loaded and will find each other in an air combat. It is not always RCS which is decisive in air battle. Hyping RCS are just a try to underrate MKI.

.
su-27/su-30 are already well established platforms. now reduction in RCS can only be achieved by use of radar absorbing paints. however to have a drastic reduction in RCS is not possible because that caanot be achievd without re designing the complete aircraft.

RCS has significant value in air combat. but if u have long range BVRs then this disadvantage can be nullified. for example f-15 has got zero combat loss all due to its better tadar and BVR missiles.

why nt equip the LCA with russian radar?

oh sorry you people are aware of russian avionics

oh sorry you need to know equipping existing big radars on a small aircraft is not possible.

Oh sorry you dont know we rely on Isreali avionics as its better than russia.

Oh sorry i forgot, ur motive is not curiosity.

oh sorryy:police:

MKI has a huge nose cone to accommodate big radar. An AESA with other capabilities will multiply the capabilities of MKI. I think Russian, Indian, Israeli or French, IAF must go for AESA o the MKI. :)

.
There's an upgrade plan already on table. MOD has sanctioned a 2 billion$ plan to upgrade of our mki but aesa is not there in the program.

I mean our mki got there kicked in exercise in US last time when they faced their aesa. I thought these exercises are meant for learning.

Sooner or later PAF will also receive aesa in the name of fighting against terrorism, then our air superiority fighter won't be of any use.

I mean i understand no aesa for mig29 upgrade because deal was signed in 2008 and at that time Russian aesa was not on table. But now when it is on offer we should go for it.

Israel will definitely miss this chance to provide us with aesa. If there aesa was on offer we would have gone for there aesa.

I hope we change our upgrade plan. Seriously, we upgrading right now. We won't be upgrading mki any time soon after this upgrade program. Including aesa would be a wise decision but our bureaucracy does not work like this. They will first improve a road and after completion of the road they will again dig up to lay down water pipeline or drainage line.

Where did you got this info, give the source and I think we have discussed this quite sometimes.

RCS RCS RCS.... such a good word... No one exactly know what it is??? RCS of Unloaded F16 B 52 is xm2, what F16 is going to do if its without any weapon??

Even if you lock This elephant can you kill it??? Once upon a time MiG25 and F4 fire 10 missile on each other, and no one was hurt..

a loaded mki and loaded f16 which will have more rcs ? mki right ? then why not try to reduce it ?

.
very good news! :victory: now our MKIs will be even more efficient. the AESA radar which is to be used on MKI should have at least 200 km range.
