U talk of realism and commons sense and than come up with this shit?? Pakistan has been producing in house jf 17's 16-17 per year for a while now worth 500-600 mil per year, do u think 700 mil is a problem for us?? Damn idiot, we wanted those jets only if they were given almost free, only a stop gap measure, we had no intention on spending anymore on 16's as we have several strategic options we have to go for in the next 5 yrs, and that deal would be worth atleast 4 bil so stuff it... the defence budget of pakistan fy1 2017 is over 9 billion dollars out of which 2.4 bil is for arms procurement....still think we cant afford it? We signed a deal with china for subs worth 5 billion dollars, still think we cant afford it?, when we go for big ticket items the funding doesnt necesarily comeout of the defence budget, alot of other sources have always been availiable to us including direct govt funding apart from the yearly defence budget...

What we didn't accept and appreciate was the dumbazz American idiocy

They offered the jets part paid out of whichever WOT fund Pakistan was getting and then changed the deal at the last moment

It doesn't matter if your buying a car, a house or a dog. If you get a great deal offered your pretty happy but if at the point of signing the contract the salesman turns round and says sorry we changed our mind we are not offering you a deal please pay in full, then the only thing you can say is fcuk you!!

What's worse is the Obama administration offered the deal in the first place

Well, recent Putin's statement "NO deep Military relation with Pakistan"
It is very unlikely for Pakistan to join this programme at this stage.

Russia already supply RD-93 engine for JF-17 thunder rejecting all objections of India and setting up RD-93 overhaul facility in Pakistan and Russia also working on next version of RD-93 MA more powerful engine for JF-17 in modern era every thing is possible in Trade and war.

You are fundamentally mistaken in your belief that we couldn't pay for the F-16s. The reality being, it was a good bargain if we got 'em cheap under the FMF, otherwise we simply have better uses for our money, thank you very much.

No matter whether this is about the fighter jet or commercial jet, what we need to see is how much learning and understanding we gain from this. What new tricks are the Russians willing to teach us? And most importantly, will this venture lead to developing our capabilities to such an extent that we are able to start a completely independent project by ourselves? If so, then yes, we should invest in the project. Otherwise, a mere 'manufacturing' agreement does not make much sense. I mean, companies like Toyota and Honda are also 'manufacturing' cars in Pakistan. Does it increase our industrial prowess? No. Does it increase our foreign exchange revenue? No. They manufacture in Pakistan, then sell in Pakistan, and profits probably go out of Pakistan, who knows? No charm in 'investing' in such agreements.

If Pakistan can afford 8 submarine worth 4 billion and 4 Warships worth 1.5 billion then i am sure we can afford a lot of other things as well. This year our procurement budget alone amounts to 1.5$. Secondly we rejected F-16 because of prior comeitment by US to provide them free of cost. Although pakistan has zero interest in Super Sukhoi or any other russian jet so this news is fake.
