So all total 9 of the Talwar class frigates ...............:woot:

I think IN now has the right number of frigates (Talwar-class , Shivalik-class ), imo we should go for more Destroyers to keep the ratio balanced.

P15 project is maturing along with the Stealth ASW Corvettes @ GRSE ... waiting for the first batch to come out ...

Well, we already knew that IN will go for 3 more Talwar class, so not a surprise, but what needs to be seen is that what weapon package are used on this one + is IN going for Krivak 3 or Krivak 4 for this one.

P.S. Why always order for 3, why not 10??

If they order 10,it will take 15-16 yrs for delivery for last ship. That time lot of new invention come up,so it needs immediate upgrade. That means loss of money.

Navy should be focusing on at least 18 to 20 multi role destroyers, 4-5SSNs, 2-3light carriers for few fighters & helis.

Good reason that we're keeping strategically important Yantar Shipyard busy and at the same time ensuring that our own docks are packed to the hilt with orders.

IN is having a tremendous management who has proven to be thoroughly professional.

I just hope that IA and IAF learn something from the Navy on how to manage domestic procurements and make them state-of-the-art as well.

Actually, it is the submarines and those 2 damn aircraft carriers that they need the most right now.

well plans are already afoot, 3 kolkata class destroyers are already under construction with 4 P-15B's to be constructed, Arihant class consists of 4-5 SSBN's + 2 Akula on lease + plans of much bigger & better SSBN/SSGN, IAC-1 + Viky will be inducted with IAC-2 in design phase, as for air wing - navy's air arm will consist of 500 ac in a decade or so, so great times ahead ;)

I wonder what is happening to those two islands that Mauritius was to give to us permanently (in exchange for our stolen black money of course).

Though they don't serve much purpose as our problems are just around us, if Mauritius refuses to hand over the black money, it is the next best choice to station at least 3 frigates and a few MARCOs and SPB units there.

The islands are geographically facing mainland India and therefore will be an effective weapon against counter-piracy.

Stationing anything more will be a waste as during a war or a conflict, our offshore territories will be useless.

well even if they give us (or maybe already have) these things are kept secret, remember there is no official GOI word on IAF's base in Tajikistan or listening post of IN in Madagascar, some things are better if they are kept secret ;)

Will Arihant class be converted to SSGN when the Bigger SSBN enter service ???

Why to convert?? plans are already in place to make bigger SSBN's as well as SSGN (as per Prasun sengupta), so Arihant will remain a SSBN.

What is the use of a 4 silo SSBN if we are making bigger SSBN with 10+ silos ??

Cut the Hull and take out the Reactor. Then Cut it a bit more to fit in the Diesel Generators and seal it.. Seems too much like Viccky to me :woot:

Dude ....SSGN

Just replacing BM with CM just like US did with Ohio class.
