. . . . .
I
USSR/Old Russia was a good balance at global arena & in UN for more than half a century. With demise of USSR global arena became tatally un-balanced and it was the biggest loss of developing countries. Russia still has a bigger global clout, role & influence than China. Russia is still more acceptable to the world than China due to Its political & strategic maturity. If China wants to be comparable like Russia in influence, It has to stop bullying small countries around it, It should broader its vision and It should start behaving like a responsible country. Economy can bring you limited influence but not political maturity and real global influence.

Russia's re-rise would be in the best interest of the world.
It is already in making. Taken its position to move forward.

You are welcome to explore Mother Russia. :-)

St. Petersburg is the most beautiful city in Russia. It can only be described in one word: gorgeous. Everything in the city is historic and well-preserved: if I am not wrong there are special laws preventing the building of skyscrapers that would ruin (yes, ruin) St. Petersburg's historic skyline. The locals are terribly proud of their city and understandably so (they often treat Moscow with a certain level of disdain because it isn't nearly as artistically and architecturally beautiful as their beloved Petersburg). The main sites are walkable (stick to the Nevsky Prospekt and Gostiniy Dvor area and you'll have a lot of things to see).

There are plenty of things to do in St. Petersburg - lots of old churches to visit, museums to see and palaces to take pictures of. In fact, the city basically glows during the night so you can literally go to any corner of the city centre and take incredible photos.

I would recommend few thing to see and do:

1. Watch ballet at mariinsky theater.

2. Take a canal cruise.

3. Take a tour of metros:

4. Watch opening of bridges in night:

4. Yusupov Palace or Moika Palace

5. Kazan Cathedral:

6. Church of the Savior on Blood

7. Saint Isaac's Cathedral

They say a picture is worth a thousand words: Smolny Cathedral
