A museum no but some thing more in keeping with the character of the city. It would be sad to see the same mistakes they made in London repeated else where. Would you still enjoy a stroll down Nevsky Prospect if it was wall to wall glass skyscrapers?

you make it sound like those glass towers are built for shits and giggles, those towers provide best paying jobs in the city and can't exactly fit thousands of workers in a 5 level historical building, having dedicated business sectors in a city can also create a great contrast of old and new. Paris does it well.

What is Russia so much popular these days?

Thought one of our resident experts might have answered by now but a few things.

Beautiful cities, fascinating history, wonderful people, good food, better Vodka, a President that plays trump like a Balalaika and the world cup.
