NATO is not a professional industrial civilian organization. Its a military alliance pointedly focused on fighting, dismantling Russia. joining or leaving NATO is an 'international' act and has serious geopolitical complications because it alters the safety of the relevant states. This is a significance no small nations like Ukraine or even Japan should change. You change it, then you bear the responsibilities and pain of the action. This is more significant than a state or province enacting self determination to seek independence from a sovereign nation.

Rankings are subject and Russia always places very high in those as well...we all know what happened to Russian military in Ukraine...

The only relative success Pakistan has had in the last three decades has been the covert proxy support to Taliban. Otherwise it has failed spectacularly in countering the proxy warfare inside it's own borders launched by all of it's neighbors with the exception of China.

Less than 25% of China was under Japanese occupation which is about the same proportion of Ukraine under Russian occupation right now. There were conventional battles up to the last day. Chiang Kai Shek was sitting at a desk in China.

How will it be a world war if the majority of the world doesn't want to be involved? This is a European war, being fought in Europe by Europeans with the support of other Europeans. The right terminology to use would be a "European conflict" or something to that effect.

Both Russian and their adversaries have tried desperately to get non Europeans involved in this conflict, but thankfully their involvement has been minimal, long may it continue.

China had sufficient might to stalemate Japan and cause its economy to nearly collapse. Japan ran out of oil, steel and rubber, couldn't pay for US imports, so had to expand the war against European and US colonies. The rest is history.

If Ukraine has the capability to do the same to Russia then they have earned their independence. Currently their resistance is not even as effective as WW2 China's was.
