Don't know why exactly this argument is still continuing. The facts are so clear!! India has effectively pulled out - it hasn't put in a penny into the program since the last 7 years (since it contributed some money to the preliminary design effort)!!

Don't understand the statements like 'India cannot play hardball', or 'India has to buy PAKFA', when it has clearly not engaged in the project for the last 5 years (since the prelim design was complete!!!).

Russia cares about the loss or not is Russia's problem. India cares about what it needs and is sticking to it!! That's all!! Russia is clearly trying to woo India by reducing the price etc. but still is of no use until the product requirements are met!!

Just to be clear FGFA is the India's proposed joint effort with Russia (for a 5th gen aircraft). The India only effort for 5th gen aircraft is called AMCA.

S400 is a deadly system,but telling it will destroy entire paf is something is impossible task. You need an airforce with aircraft to destroy somebody elses airforce,sam are for defensive purposes.

Then we can ground entire IAF fleets,no need to put our money on new purchases too.
Man,first of all the the advertised coverage is for ideal planar surfaces with no undulating surfaces,which is not the reality,the highs and lows will definitely affect s400 range.
Secondly even paf will be having anti missile batteries stationed in theirs territory. When we fired SAM missile towards theirs territory it will be tracked,and unlike surface to surface missile,a long range SAM's trajectory is very much easy to predict,since SAM's trajectory and blasting co-ordinates are mostly pre calculated one and decided just before launch.
Lastly but not least,the long range missiles of s400( not exclusive to s409,all of the SAM battery in world) are not much successful in destroying aircrafts,it may be good against missiles.

Yeah,the s400 radars gives us some warning on theirs airspace activity if we place them near to border,but that's not the job of a ground based radar,our AWACS will do job more efficiently without ground hinderances and safely. If we place close to border, it's prone to artillery fires,even a saturated tube artillery attack can totally destroy an ultra costly asset. Remember, Pakistan army do posses Chinese sketch copy in numbers.

The s400's job is not to do offensive activity inside Pakistan airspace,that job will be done by IAF fighter squadron,i think mki will rule that area in initial courses of war,and up to some extent IN airwing too. That's all. S400 job will be defending our airspace from Pakistani missile attack,and PAF ircraft breaching our airspace.
