Russia-China joint R&D programmes in Technology or science in past or present

For example - how deep was our connection in Mao and Stalin times:
In 1952, trade with the Soviet Union was already more than half of China's foreign trade (53.4%)

The United States had several powerful allies, great powers - Britain, France, Japan, Germany. In addition, several powers of the second rank - Spain, Italy. The USSR had only one powerfull Communist ally, but this ally alone was worth more than all the US allies combined - it was China.
But Khrushchev, a fool, destroyed our union with his foolish de-Stalinization.

China and Russia should laid down a solid framework of cooperation research and development as EU such as Franco-Germany type. Base on both current nations strength China and Russia will never able to catch up US, Americans have advantage to access to EU and Japanese technology, this has greatly boost US Science and military progress beside their own research while China and Russia can only play solo.

As I said before if both willing to cooperate, not only we can catch up US , boost both nations strength but to have an exclusive market for our own and reduce cost of the procurements, this is seems too be too good to be truth but the huge advantages is there. The Heavy helicopter and Airline aircraft projects (C9?9) will put China and Russia under test to see how well this cooperation go, if both projects proved to be a success then it will open more cooperation.

Agreed, the US has this kind of advantage whereas China and Russia are still lacking far behind in many areas. It saves US time and trouble when the access to EU, JP developed technologies are for the grabbing. Not to forget China is not allowed to participate in the development or visiting ISS. Both of our countries have a lot of catching up to do and it's gonna take quite an amount of time and resources. It's quite a pity how much time was lost when Khrushchev was the leader of USSR after the Stalin era. USSR lost the arms race, Cuban missile crisis, bankrupted itself because the economy could not sustain itself while overspending in arms and space race. China was left on her own and lots of struggle as days went by in the 60 to the 80s. Only after the fall of USSR and USA sanctioning China drew us together once again. The NATO threats and US bases in Asia are crawling closer to our borders has only pushed us closer together in dealing with them in the geopolitical arena. Closer R&D between us definitely have great potential in catching up.

Not sure what you are talking about of US bases getting closer. We used to be in multiple bases in Taiwan (flying U2 spy planes) and the Philippines for decades. We certainty haven't opened up any better new bases since. The ones in Korea and Japan have been there since the 1940's and 1950's.

Why don't you look up at Jeju

. . . .
So do bases all around the world but we don't own them. Unless there are only US guards at the entrance we don't own the base.
I didn't say US own them, i said US military assets and troops will be on those bases. Just as NATO hosting US troops crawling at Russia's doorstep. Many South Koreans voiced their opposition about this bases, they don't like the idea of hosting US forces on Jeju that will damage the relation with China.

Well apparently many more others want us to stay since we have been there for over 50 years and they haven't yet voted for us to leave.

I have said before USA does not wish to leave SK, without DPRK threat US lost the excuse to stick in SK. As long there's DPRK, US can milk SK the cash cow. Not about the majority of South Koreans are dying to have US military in their own soil. But due to the fear factor of DPRK hey SK government is willing to pay the price. Trump presented the expensive bill for THAAD, SK now refuses to pay but will have to cough the $$$$ for Trump. That's the price for US protection. Anyway this discussion is off topic here

I recall decades ago when Japan wanted build it own fighter jet to replace Japanese F1 but under US strong opposition and pressure, Japan was forced to use F-16 as baseline to make F2 and not only that Japan had to cede their top secret airplane manufacturing technology to US. So much for a country to label China as steal US technology when Americans don't even need to steal but to act like mafia and make offer that Japan or any subordinates couldn't refused.

Nodaway China is catching up but Russia is still ahead of China in many scientific fields. China's GDP is around 8x of Russia, we certainly complement each other's needs, only by combine each other's strength than both can catchup US and only by having a lot of work sharing and cooperation that pushing or "forcing" Chinese and Russian to work and understand each other then we will earn one day a title of "ALL WEATHER" friend as we have with Pakistan.

We can hope that both can create the kind of platform you described and hasten R&D which is needed gaining momentum. The gap remains wide with US so lots of challenges ahead.

I think we can inspire Franco-Germany cooperation as a good example, despite WW2 drama, both willing to look forward for their future. On one of the thread I did propose of Sino-Russia carrier cooperation, imagine if both nation share 75% of common carrier and the remaining of 25% content will leave to Russia and China to install their own required equipment, this way both can absorb a great deal of cost and speed up the manufacturing especially when the combined defend budget of both nations is still lower than US.

Chinese russian joint r&d means that the russians do all the brainwork and chinese provide finance and take credit.

Nah, we're not India that couldn't do nothing, provide finance and expect for full TOT of PAKFA:lol:
