Russia and the UAE are putting their first touches on a fifth-generation fighter

The Russian Federation for Military Technical Cooperation has confirmed the continued preparation of Moscow and Abu Dhabi agreements for the launch of a light aircraft fighter project of the fifth generation.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Dubai Air Show 2017, an official source at the Russian Authority said: "Projects of this size, require the preparation of a large amount of documents, which makes talk about any practical achievement in this project, premature."

The head of Russian technical firm Rustekh, Sergey Chimezov, has briefed on the status of Moscow and Abu Dhabi in the first touches of the fifth-generation aircraft project, saying it is likely that the two sides will base their design of the desired fighter on the MIG-29 light fighter and rely mainly on it.
