Border Security Force (BSF) troops deployed in the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya have apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals along with a truck-load of coal in South Garo Hills district along with fake documents including voter identity cards, a BSF press release said on Wednesday.

The duo – Nur Mohammed (29) and Md Salman (27) – both residents of village Barsora under Tahirpur police in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh were taking the truck towards towards the international boundary on Tuesday night for onward dispatch to the other country, the BSF press release said. While Nur Mohammed was allegedly engaged as a truck driver by a Shillong-based export company for nearly three weeks, Md Salman was working as working as his helper.

During frisking, the BSF troops recovered from Mohammed photocopy of an Indian driving licence and voter identity card issued in the name of one Rovi Hajong of Ranikor in West Khasi Hills district, apart from Rs 3,500 Indian currency and a mobile phone with a Bangladesh SIM card, the BSF said. It was suspected that the duo were on their way to the border where they would have tried to dispatch the coal to Bangladesh by boats.

BSF troops have in the past two weeks also seized 13 boats, 50 tons of coal, 147 cows, 77 CFT wooden log and 1283 bottles of liquor while they were being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Meghalaya. The total value of the items is estimated to be about RS 48 lakhs.

With the early monsoon rains already increasing the water level of rivers that flow out from Meghalaya to Bangladesh, smugglers have started diverting their illegal activities though the river routes, the BSF said. Meghalaya shares 443 kms of intenational boundary with Bangladesh, portions of which are vulnerable especially because of difficult terrain.

Nah no business at all, just think it's better for both countries to have as little to do with each other as possible.
Correct. We should also stop any water flowing from our side to BD...

RSS demands sealing of Indo-Bangladesh border after land pact - The Economic Times

NEW DELHI: With Parliament approving the historic Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh, the RSS has demanded that it should be followed up by sealing of borders to check illegal immigration from the eastern neighbour.

While welcoming the Indo-Bangladesh deal as "landmark", the RSS warned the Government of a "Jammu and Kashmir-like imbroglio on India's eastern border" if illegal immigration from Bangladesh is not checked.

"This landmark deal should be followed up with the illegal migration issue. Otherwise, in future, we will have to deal with another Jammu-Kashmir like imbroglio on the eastern border... Now with borders marked, it is time to address the issues pertaining to illegal immigration," an editorial in the latest edition of RSS mouthpiece "Organiser" said.

It made a case to stop "illegal immigration" on the grounds that it had altered the demography of the county and compromised national security.

"The illegal migration and subsequent changes in demography have resulted in vote bank considerations surpassing national security concerns," it says accusing both the previous Left government and the incumbent TMC dispensation led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of not reining in the trend.

There are an estimated 1.5 crore illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in India, it alleged.

The RSS also voiced concern over "radicalisation" of Bangladesh saying, "Whether to curb radicalisation or go the Pakistani way are the options Bangladesh has to explore but India definitely should not bear repercussions of radicalised Bangladesh on Indian soil. "

The RSS spoke of Hindus migrating to India "in large numbers as refugees" and Muslims entering the neighbouring states as illegal migrants.

"This has been a bone of contention in Assam, to some extent in Meghalaya and largely in Paschim Banga. Since the communists took the baton of 'secular' politics in Bengal, they systematically nurtured their constituency on communal lines," it said, raising concerns on the "attacks on Hindus" in West Bengal.

"Hindus continue to face violence in almost all bordering districts of the state. The incidents of blasts like Burdwan have serious security implications, with clear cross border implications.

In another article, the RSS said, "The 'secular' vote bank politics created by the Congress, nurtured by Communists and now encashed by Trinamool Congress, has accelerated the Islamic radicalism in Bengal.

Yeah do that! This is a clear win for Bangladeshis. Soon their per capita income is going to be much higher than Indians and there is a real danger that Indian job seekers will swarm Bangladesh.

So I say, go with that!

This will be good for both Government of India and Bangladesh.
