well i guess not everybody thinks like that...... at least not me....... if i was to marry without my parent's consent (that is highly unlikely) i would have probably seen the Seerat and then Soorat (Deeds and Beauty ) and then marry her regardless of her background whether she is from Pakistan or India or Yogoslavia and regardless of the cast whether she is Rajput, Chaudry or Sheikh Allah made you a Human and guided you to find the true religion........ i guess thats all i require........... we humans further divided ourselves in to this "ZAAT PAAT OONCH NEECH" and other useless stuff

i believe there will be many peoples in Sikh religion also who do not pay attention to these minor things

dont get me wrong mate i dont belive in the caste system either and as a sikh we are meant not to belive in caste system but as you know when you get an arrange marriage like i did my parents look for a jatt girl,me being a jatt does not make me better than someone else who is not

i am in NWFP and there is NO such News neither anything like that happend.

And mostly Robbin is Christian name in Peshawar and singh never goes with Robin.

And on top of that Indians are calling Robin Singh a Hindu

And i tell you one more thing the Indian media comes up with such fake stories just to cash on the prevailing news of beheading of a Pakistani Sikh.


The Indian orange media earlier spread another fake news that another Sikh was abducted from SWAR

whereas the reality is NO Sikh was abducted from Swat in the first place.

There a lot of people in India who uses Singh as their middle name....
the likes of ppl from rajputana families (rajputs) m ppl frm Bihar , Haryana , UP etc..

and abt singh never soes with robin??? which black Bible of Jana says that?
My nephew`s name is William Jeet Singh .
the SHO back home in my town was also called William Singh Jeji.

PN, Many jatts claim Rajput ancestry and there are many rajput names counted as Jatts. For eg. my father's colleague is a Chauhan (like Prityhvi raj Chauhan). He's a Sikh and counts himself as a Jatt.

Digging deeper you'd find a lot of common ground between Jatts and Rajputs. From what I have read both were related to Central Asian tribes (the Scythians) and came to undivided Punjab between 500 BC - 500 AD from a region close to the Amu Darya/Oxus in modern Iran. Though the Rajputs came a lot earlier than Jatts.

Check out the references at the bottom of this Wiki page. Though I have read only a couple of books like the one by Kanungo, they are all good reading material about Jatts.

Bwahhahahhahah well i dont care what Indians use in India but here in my province my Hindu brothers and sisters do not use the name Robin Singh.

Tell your Indian Orange media to first confirm and then do propaganda.


And as far as Taking up western names like William (if its the correct spells) or David Singh or so ,lollzz its just to make one sound modern and nothing to do with Hindu names.

Oh yaar i can understand about the family relationships but why are you barring the whole village?

X bro, the logic for Jatts behind not marrying a girl from your own village is fairly simple. Villages were normally settled people of one clan/tribe. So you would usually find all Jatts of a village having the common surname i.e. their clan name. Another proof of this is the village name, as sometimes village names also gives away the clans name that settled it. Like Virk-Kalan (most people would be Virks), Romana-Khurd (Romanas) or Gill-Patti (Gill). So when your own clan kinda settled it, everybody is related to you from your father's side. Hence every girl in ur village is kinda like ur sister.

The same logic somewhat holds for the gotra/surname. But not so much. Like I have heard of Sidhus marrying each other. Guess it is less of a sister-brother thing for them as they are such a big clan. I hope I cleared some of your doubts around this.

Agree with you there Yuba. The same goes for me. I mean marrying a Jatt girl in case of an arranged marriage will kinda ensure compatibility in many ways. Its kind of like the probability of having similar tastes, similar lifestyle and a similar way of living is higher.

Thats not surprising to me Jana as I know Jatts inhabit both sides of the border in Punjab. I know Cheema, Waraich are pretty common Jatt surnames in West Punjab.

Also another bit of info that I learnt from my elders in the Pind- A bigger village is usually called a Kalan while a smaller one is known as Khurd.

A very well compiled history of Rajputs is a book called' Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan' by Lt Col James Tod, the Political agent to Rajputana in pre 1857 days.
