An illiterate and struggling mother has fled from a hospital and abandoned her newborn triplet daughters because she cannot afford to look after them.
Triplets Alexandra, Isabela and Cristina have been living in the maternity ward of a hospital in the city of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania, for the past three weeks after their mother ran off.
Jeaneta Bente, 32, who is already struggling to raise three children, said there was no way that she could also afford to care for three more.

And when she realised she going into labour prematurely and was having triplets, she decided to abandon them.
The triplets were conceived without any fertility treatment and despite being premature all three are in perfect health.
However, she has since come forward to explain her reasoning for abandoning her daughters - and now placed them up for adoption.
She said: 'I hope people can understand that I just don't have any possibility to feed or care for them, but I wish them the best and hope they have a better life than I can give them.'
After she was tracked down and confronted by local media, she agreed to sign papers to allow them to be adopted. Because she is illiterate, she used her thumbprint as her signature.
Romanian hospitals have reported an increasing problem with abandoned newborns.
This year alone 25 have been abandoned at the same hospital where the triplets were left behind.
In almost every case, the mothers explained that they simply did not have the money to take care of their children.
Local social worker Aurelia Ciresanu said: 'The causes of abandonment are mainly a lack of finances on the behalf of the parent, although there is also a lack of accommodation or support from immediate family which is also often a factor.'
