There are military aircraft and there are fighter jets. The JF-17 no doubt belongs to the latter category.
In it's brief operational history, it has not only travelled world wide to appear in International air shows but has also been used successfully in campaign against WOT by bombing militant hideouts and has flown 19000 operational hours to date. And in the DACT and war games scenario, it has mixed it with some of the best fighter aircraft from around the globe including the F-16 Block-52s, F-15 Eagles, F/A 18 Super Hornets, SU-30s, J-10, Mirage-2000 and a whole lot of other well known combat jets....in many cases it's held more than it's own.

. . . . . .
In KSA earlier this year
Can't be I guess cause it is an F-18 E Super Hornet which is not operated by any country which participated in the north thunder exercise in which the JFT performed.
However F-18 Hornets are operated by Qatar and Malay air forces.

It is US Air Force. Look at the STAR 11 oclock above the Nose wheel.

The USAF brought their F-15 and F-18's to even out the loses the KSA F-15 were having.
