Rohrabacher Introduces Bill Granting Citizenship to Pakistani "Traitor"

What if I told you Ive Actually met an exact that?? :P
It was an amusing experience with "that"... considering the rest of the crowd was also socialite and giving the usual fake agreeable "Hmmms".

It appears to me you move in interesting circles!

Now with these "basic" qualifications, all "it" needs to do is blaspheme, sell out state secrets and lay claim to a rape. Not easily done, is it?

The question is not of traitorship.. is how there is another loophole available for opportunist to use and bypass INS and Homeland security.
Caught in embezzling case with some quasi-military deal.. use this option.. betray and survive court.

There are few loopholes in INS to be exploited from the outside. However, there are many ways to get someone supported from the inside. That is how the system is designed. Private bills are only one such mechanism, for there are many more.

All sorts of circles O spited zen master.. not by my own choice or my connections.. Just my luck that I end up at the oddest places in Pakistan.

As for the loopholes.. what I am implying is the open incentive for defections... and not just genuine ones but opportunistic ones as well. What will seem genuine to the US, and may provide some HUMINT. All of this however will be at face value..perhaps even elaborately forged.

"spited"? I hope you meant "spirited". :D

Then you are blessed indeed, for variety is the spice of life.

Incentives for useful defections have a long and fruitful history. Anybody remember Viktor Belenko, for example?

Yes.. spirited.. typo.
And yes again..I am fairly blessed with an ever changing life.. Have no permanent home.. not much cash either..
but move from place to place ,living in the finest locales and dining on the finest cuisine.. God is great.

How that applies to Pakistan is even more interesting.. people are groomed here from the time they are low grade officers..
And when they have made it to a general or brigadier.. served their purpose.. they quietly immigrate elsewhere and enjoy their fruits of their treachery.

Thank you for the correction.

Like I said, please consider yourself lucky indeed!

Whose fault is that? Surely not USA's!

Traitor Dr Afridi isn't going anywhere. Whether he gets citizenship of America or Mars.

He will be used as a bargaining chip, and let go quietly when the furor has died down and benefits that have been negotiated have accrued. That is how business is done here on Earth, but I don't know about Mars.

We have enough bargaining chips for USA and Dr afridi comes on the last number among them if he is considered as a bargaining chip by Pakistani establishment. You just pray he doesn't die because of some "natural" reasons before that.;)

It is instructive to see how casually threats of extra-judicial murder carried out by state organs is thrown about as a solution. Shame on you.

Dr. Afridi's detention, treatment and eventual disposition will affect Pakistan's long-term reputation to its detriment if not handled carefully. Please be very sure about that.

Why shame? And that too for someone who worked for a foreign intelligence agency without the permission of his own country. He was a tool used by America and tools are bound to expire at sometime.

People die natural death. Can't they. :)

Like I said elsewhere, Pakistan is hoping to use Dr. Afridi as a bargaining chip to get more benefits, that is all. He will be fine in the long run with US support of course.

Which is what is shameful.. The person who should be given the Nishan-e-Pakistan is being used as a pathetic pawn and bargaining chip.

. .
Hahahahaha

And I say that because he is probably the only person at this time in Pakistan who is 100% free of suspicion of collusion with terrorists.. Think about it ;)

Another thought.. Imagine Dr Afridi gets US citizenship.. And then compare him and Raymond Davis. Now if you dont let him go after that, it will reflect that Pakistan is fine letting go of the killer of 2 Pakistani citizens, but wont let go of a doctor who helped kill OBL..

Since he has bigger threats to face right now.;)

His threat level has changed and increased monumentally.

Difference is he would be awarded a US citizenship. He is not a US citizen right now or at the time when he was working as a pawn for CIA. What it will reflect doesn't matter. What matters is that the state of Pakistan can't sanction it's citizens to become agents of other countries or their intelligence agencies. :)

.
Sad part is though..that:
Whether Dr Afridi did the right thing OR not by exposing OBL.
Whether there was collusion in keeping OBL alive and well fed by the establishment(or some members of it) OR not.
Whether Dr Afridi should have contacted his own countrymen first and may have had a positive response OR not.

This episode will be used by vested interests on both sides to sow spite and show aggressiveness.
And will become another focus of anti-"ally" sentiments in both nations.

By hanging Dr Afridi Pakistan indirectly implies that it would have rather let OBL live next to its premier military academy, ipso facto implying that it supports terrorism and is infact THE ACTUAL PLANNER(via the ISI or somebody else) for 9/11.

By awarding citizenship to Dr Afridi the US has implied that it now officially considers Pakistan(establishment, civilian government and all of its people) its enemy and now is encouraging defection and possibly hinting at further action against Pakistan.
