What's new

Rohit sharma is now the top scorer In ODIs passes 220

.
Hmm ok, but then do you believe that any of these scores can be achieved in say, England or Australia or New Zealand or South Africa or even Bangladesh or Sri Lanka?
The highest ODI score was made and chased in South Africa that too on a bouncy pitch of Wanderers.

Highest scores of 360 are often made in Australian pitches.

Last to last tour of New Zealand, India made 400 odd runs and swept the series.

What are u talking bout?

:tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown: totaly unhappy

Pitch should be good for bowler too:shout:
Pitch was very good for bowlers. Shoaib Akhtar said in commentary after the starting overs of the match that its a dream pitch for him with that pace and bounce.

Its unfortunate that people love to simply assume that IF ITS A 200+ INDIVIDUAL SCORE OF 400+ TEAM SCORE, THE PITCH HAS TO BE SUBSTANDARD BY DEFAULT.

Thodi akkal lagao. It was substandard bowling by Sri Lankans rather than the pitch.

Does anyone consider T20 factor in the current ODI format..

Atleast India does. If you notice recent Indian ODI innings Indian batsmen in final 20 overs try to double the score they made in first 30. Chasing 300 in 50 overs is a joke these days given that teams are used to chasing 180/190 in 20 overs.

At the risk of upsetting the Pakistanis here I would say Akhtar was a one trick pony. That guy could bowl at speeds considered humanly impossible but that was his only trump card. It is difficult to get away Akhtar in ODIs where there is pressure of run-rate but in test cricket if a technically sound batsman like Kallis, Jayawardene, Dravid get their timing right then they can handle him with considerable ease.

Its true batsmen did not have a clue how to handle a 100 mph bouncer. But once they got used to his pace he was clobbered like crazy. His strength became his weakness. The slightest edge would run to the boundaries. The batsman just had to deflect the delivery and the bowlers pace would do the trick. He had pace but lacked variation. The slow yorker came very late and was not quite as effective. India's treatment of Shoaib Akhtar in the 2003 WC and Ross Taylor treatment in 2011 WC is proof that pace alone does not make a bowler.

The coming Indian tour to Australia in early 2015 will show India's chances in 2015 WC. If India can manage a good show then there is a fighting chance of getting to the semis atleast.

Check these scores, 183 is not far from 200.

These scores have been achieved in places outside India including Pakistan & BD.

Next, on a given day any player can achieve wonders, Yuvraj scored six sixes in an over against England in South Africa.

Just have a look at the format. 4 teams from each group qualify into quarters (The chances of India getting eliminated in group stages is very slim).

So, It's all about having 3 good days and you could win the cup. Not to forget that the pitches will be prepared according to ICC guidelines.

SA, West Indies, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Ireland, UAE.

Looks easy on paper. But lets see what happens on the said day. People may disagree but the super-six was not a bad idea. If India lose the QF then its flight back home.
