I read somewhere that many muslim countries have a small contingent deployed to Mecca for protection duties. Is that true? If so which countries are involved and would they too be involved in the defence of saudis against ISIS?

I don't know about other countries but PA units were deployed during first gulf war for that purpose.

Marhattas hay, you ever heard of a man called Ahmad shah Abdali?,

Sikhs were a blip a small blip didn't even last more then a few decades that's about it.

I was never a colony of the British, that particular honour rests with you and others from my country who didn't have it in them to standup.

I am Khilji not a Mughal, I have my own history just read about us, we still have tombs in your current day India to remind you of us, can you say the same?.

Do me a favor and open a separate thread specifically on this topic and I would be more than happy to bust all your delusions.

Thank You.

Nawaz Sharif is a puppet on Saudi hand. If thats what you meant @Horus

Lets take it positively. If Saudis want our cooperation then there must be iron clad guarnatess from them they will not seminaries in our country. They will also be asked to use their influence on Qatar and Kuwait to stop the funding or religious schools.

Pakistan must not be embroiled in such a way that it looks it is safeguarding House of Saud interests but that of Saudis. House of Saud has been involved in funding the mess thats Syria. We should not be seen aiding or abetting that mess created by these Arab countries.

Many on this thread do not understand the nature of Pak Saudi relations. It is much deeper than you think.

Saudis have enough troops and firepower to defend themselves against ISIS. But Pakistan as a long term ally of Kingdom has valuable experience in counter terrorism. As an ally it is natural to share this experience with a friend. All of you guys have been against ISIS. But hey look, they don't support a collaboration between two friends against ISIS! What the heck people? If mutual military learning can help defeat ISIS then why aren't you happy? Just because it involves Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which for one reason or the other you dislike?

As for terror money in Pakistan, it has not been coming from Saudi government. Those are some individuals. Just like OBL was an individual of Saudi origin. Doesn't mean Saudi government is responsible for everyone.

Saudi-Pak relations benefit both nations. Pakistan has technology and skilled people to offer while Saudi's have critically need diplomatic support and energy resources. Saudi government has stood by Pakistan in its times of need. It will be against our valued traditions to betray them. No, we are not sending any combat troops not do they need them. But we will continue to engage in military relations for the benefit of both nations. Haters can go cry in the bathroom now!

As far as i know, there is no such detatchment planned apart from the ongoing training program.
all this is rumors. just wait a few days and you will see.
but i hope something will come out of it.
and anyway. ppl are over analyzing these days with all these visits from all around the world to saudi. its normal. we have a new king. new team. and as everyone can see no one has time to waste. even the meeting with korea which was about business opportunities and nuclear reactor cooperation is done quickly cuz the kingdom is spending and losing so much money on energy. so the king wants this to move fast.

Trying to get a statement from ISPR's General Asim on this matter to clear things up. These things have flown in the media before.

Riyadh to press Nawaz for more troops to fight IS threat: report
By Web Desk
Published: March 4, 2015

As Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif departed on Wednesday on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, reports suggest that Riyadh is set to press the premier to boost the number of Pakistani troops in the Kingdom to fight militants, including the Islamic State.

However, as per a report published in Gulf News, Islamabad is cautious about broadening its security relationship with Riyadh.

“There is uncertainty in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia deals with the wider Islamic State-related challenge,” a former national security adviser to Nawaz, Mahmoud Durrani said.

“Pakistan has to be careful to avoid getting embroiled in a relationship with the Saudis which only exposes us to new controversies.”

Riyadh is concerned about Islamic State, which has taken over large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria, seeking to target the kingdom.

“The Saudis are very keen to boost their security apparatus, and Pakistan as a friend with a history of services to the kingdom is of great interest,” a western diplomat said.

Similar to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia faces a militant threat.

However, the two countries face challenges in their bilateral relations as the simmering issue of foreign funding in Madrassahs topped an agenda of the National Action Plan to wipe out terrorism.

After nearly a year-long denial, authorities in the Punjab government finally admitted that some 17 Muslim and non-Muslim countries were contributing hundreds of millions of rupees to around 1,000 religious seminaries in the province.

The Interior Ministry in its written reply to the committee informed the lawmakers the names of the countries and the funds they contributed to madrassas in Pakistan, which included: Qatar Rs198m, Kuwait Rs56m, Saudi Arabia Rs42m, Dubai Rs11m, the Netherlands Rs2.5m, United States Rs0.7m, Hong Kong Rs0.1m, Kuwait Rs0.9m and Bahrain Rs1.8m.

The countries’ close relationship has been built on common security interests dating back to the 1970s, when the Saudi oil boom created employment for a large number of Pakistanis.

“In the 1980s the Saudis were keen to keep Pakistani troops as this helped counter the Iranian threat,” says one former Pakistani army general who served in the kingdom. “For the Saudis, the relationship with Pakistan guarantees both against internal dissent and external threats.”

Why not Pakistan send their troops to Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS?

You might have a lot of knowledge. If you disagree or my post is beyond your dignity, please tell me whats your take on this?

Honestly, its really hard to get news out of your country.

saudi was shouting out loud and screaming and warning of this in 2011
just like we did in the war against afghanistan and iraq. when we warned the US and iran that your plans in iraq and the way you are conducting this fight will destabilize the region and start a sectarian war. again thats before and during the war. we told them what you are doing is dangerous in front of the world.

the US iran and isreal are the reason behind all this mess cuz simply they had their own plans. i mean what else do you want saudi to do ?! and after this you say saudi is to blame for all this mess ?! did you even watch any saudi officials statements in the UN ?! do you expect me to bring you 4 years of evidence to show you that saudi has nothing to do with this. and that saudi warned the world specially US and iran. that if they continue doing this they will create terrorist groups not just in syria but around the world. specially the west. we were always right!
the king said it. the foreign minister said it. our ambassador in the UN said it. even the taxi drivers in saudi said it!! its all on TV. cuz simply they are giving a strong reason for ISIS to exist! why do think we refused a seat in the UN security council ?! cuz they are hypocrites! they have double standards. and they dont have the will to finish this fight. cuz everyone is busy with their own plans.
while saudi spent billions for iraqi refugees including shia, so you dont say we are shia killers, and for syrians and Palestinians. in all countries. we pay for their housing schools food dress medicine. and hamdulelah we wont stop helping those poor ppl and our brothers and sisters. not one country did what saudi did. in terms of financial support to those millions of refugees. or political support.
i mean ppl today are blaming us for every damn thing in the universe! do you imagine what would have happened if saudi accepted that seat in the UN ?! not only they will blame us for every shit in the ME but also in ukraine the gangs in brazil earth quacks in japan!! it will all be saudi fault.

Jealous people will be jealous , but the truth is that Saudi arabia is the safest country in the world , i am living in ksa jedd and i know it ,
im inviting you to albaik :D

.
I think we should give them the troops but more in the lines of 10,000 to 15,000. Mainly because its easy money and we are helping out an ally and its not like we dont need the money. Plus whats the harm 15,000 from an army of 500,000 is really
nothing
